We are thrilled to share with you this rich harvest of tributes on Fo Solomon AnyeGhamoti Angwafo III of the Kingdom of Mankon. The tributes are by people and institutions from Mankon, Cameroon and the world at large, that knew him well and generously responded to our call for memories, testimonies and reflections to mark his transitioning from Atsum to join his ancestors at Alankyi. The tributers share with the reader their thoughts on various aspects of who King Solomon Angwafo III was and what he meant to them. A common thread in the tributes is the irrepressible admiration for the ideas, ideals, principles and values he championed and lived by for 97 years. His leadership, wisdom, deeds, sociality and humanity are in focus. Fo Angwafo III had a lifelong commitment to cultivation. To him, living was not just about tilling the soil for sustenance, it was also about tending the mind and the soul. He valued agriculture and culture in equal measure. In this and other aspects he was a pacesetter all his life. He had a warm heart and welcoming smile for all and sundry. In conversations and good company, his distinctive laughter brightened and lightened the weights of hearts and minds. In leadership, he distinguished himself most as a servant. Fo Angwafo III was father of both the beginner and the expert, the pupil and the teacher, the fool and the philosopher. He was the father of all: the good, the bad and the ugly. His disappearance offers us an opportunity for introspection. He leaves us in the well-cultivated hands of Fo Fru-Asah Angwafo IV, an educationist, through whom his presence and inspiration will continue to be felt, and from whom we will continue to learn.

This book is based on a Special Issue of the journal LAND that draws together a collection of 11 diverse articles at the nexus of climate change, landscapes, and livelihoods in rural Africa; all explore the links between livelihood and landscape change, including shifts in farming practices and natural resource use and management. The articles, which are all place-based case studies across nine African countries, cover three not necessarily mutually exclusive thematic areas, namely: smallholder farming livelihoods under new climate risk (five articles); long-term dynamics of livelihoods and landscape change and future trajectories (two articles); and natural resource management and governance under a changing climate, spanning forests, woodlands, and rangelands (four articles). The commonalities, key messages, and research gaps across the 11 articles are presented in a synthesis article. All the case studies pointed to the need for an integrated and in-depth understanding of the multiple drivers of landscape and livelihood change and how these interact with local histories, knowledge systems, cultures, complexities, and lived realities. Moreover, where there are interventions (such as new governance systems, REDD+ or climate smart agriculture), it is critical to interrogate what is required to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of emerging benefits.

A Dictionary of Popular Bali Names is an exceptional minefield of Chamba names, meticulously assembled and expatiated for the curious user. As a pioneer in the field of dictionary-writing in the Cameroon grassfields, Fokwangís third edition counts for more than a regular dictionary. It skilfully combines a short history of the Chamba people in Cameroon as well as ethnographic issues on the naming ritual. John Fokwangís work stands in a class of its own and will serve as reference material for people of Chamba descent and those who favour the use of African names in general. This edition is an exceptionally worthy contribution to the ethnography of the Cameroon grassfields and of course, the growing literature and interest on African names and languages.

Durorp English Dictionary written by and has been published by African Books Collective this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Foreign Language Study categories.

Durorp-English Dictionary is probably the first attempt at compiling a comprehensive Dictionary of Durorp, the language of the people of Korup. It is a bilingual Dictionary aimed at stimulating literary interests in the study and development of Durorp as a linguistic entity in particular and promotion of Durorp literature in general. Durorp is an interesting and linguistically distinct semi-Bantu or Bantoid language spoken by a minority group of people known as Bororp or people of the Kororp ethnic group. A part of this ethnic group inhabits the Southwestern part of Cameroon while the other occupies the Southeastern tip of Nigeria. A minority group, Kororp has continued to suffer not only cultural and socio-economic shrinkage but also linguistic marginalisation characterised by an obvious erosion of some key elements of the language. Like any other language, however, Durorp has borrowings from languages such as Efik, Ejagham, and even English. This Dictionary has introduced quite a number of new but understandable words.

The contributors are all experts in clinical urology; their varying and at times conflicting opinions track the fast-moving pace in the field and demonstrate the complexity of the subject. The approach is disease-oriented, though grouped by anatomic region. Each chapter covers etiology, physiology, pathology, epidemiology, clinical presentations and especially diagnostic imaging, but also the appropriate interventional radiologic techniques for both diagnosis and treatment.

In 2005, a United Nations study reported that half of the world’s languages (estimated at 6,000) would disappear by the end of this century. A third of these endangered languages are in Africa where, according to the same study, nearly 250 languages have disappeared in the last century. Language is the heart, identity, storage system for the collective and unique memory and experience of every culture, people, including their natural habitat. Loss of language means loss of the ability to retain and pass on not just a belief system but also invaluable knowledge to future generations. This English-Lekongho/Lekongho-English Dictionary is a modest first attempt to minimize the envisaged sad phenomenon of language loss. Nkongho-Mbo people speak Lekongho, one of the five variants of the Mbo language of the Mbo ethnic group of Cameroon, with their ancestral home in the Kupe Muanenguba Administrative Area of the South-west Region. With this book, the authors’ fervent hope is that there will no longer surface any justification to continue to refrain from speaking Lekongho on a daily basis. This effort will help to regionalize, nationalize and internationalize the Lekongho language since Nkongho people are spread all over the country, Africa and the world.

Prosperity In Rural Africa written by Dan Brockington and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021 with Rural development categories.

"What does it mean to say that rural areas of Africa are poor? Many people insist that in rural African populations poverty is prevalent. This is either because the smallholder agricultural practices are unproductive or it is because economic policies have not protected and promoted African farming. But whether this deprivation is the fault of the peasant, or the government, both sides agree on the facts of rural poverty. However in both cases rural poverty is described using measures which make it hard, if not impossible, to capture new forms of wealth that rural people may be accruing. These new forms of wealth, which largely comprise productive assets, are especially important because they feature so prominently in rural peoples' own definitions of wealth. Using an unprecedented collection of longitudinal surveys, in which experienced researchers have revisited villages that they have known for decades, the volume tracks surprising increases in assets in diverse locations in Tanzania. The result of these findings is a compilation which is fascinating in itself and important for the understanding of rural economies' development data and agricultural policy"--Publisher's description.

Kenya’s nationalism during the colonial period was marked by two main characteristics that feature in this book. First, the struggle for independence that was mainly characterized by the claim for land that had been taken away by the colonizers. Second was the struggle for autonomy and self-determination, mainly through political resistance. The authors in this book analyse historical trajectories of Kenya's nationalism trends while highlighting the role of political leaders, large as well as small ethnic groups, perennial conflicts, community as well as religious leaders, among others. The discussions demonstrate that quest for a national identity that is inclusive at all levels – whether politically, economically, religiously and ethnically – has marked Kenya's struggle for nationalism, sometimes leading to violence, especially during election periods, national unity through political coalitions and reconciliation, as well as institutional reforms. In conclusion, the authors demonstrate that while Kenya is gradually advancing towards national cohesion, there are still many challenges yet to be surmounted.

This book represents a landmark in the development of an imaging subspecialty that crosses the clinical boundaries of urogynaecology and coloproctology. It is the first text to consider the imaging of all pelvic floor disorders, addressing in depth both urinary and faecal incontinence and the various forms of prolapse. The book begins with a magnetic resonance-based review of the anatomy of the pelvic floor and an overview of how it functions; detailed chapters on investigation and treatment then follow, from both a clinical and a radiological perspective.
