The act of forgiveness is not something that comes easily to most of us. Too often we become angry or judgmental instead of forgiving others. It can be difficult to remember we have all made mistakes or done things we regret, and we would want to be forgiven in turn. Alexander Pope famously wrote, “To err is human; to forgive, divine.” It is that divinity that Jesus Christ embodies and to which so many aspire. Jesus’s message is one of forgiving anyone, and he lived by that same principle, providing an example to all. Jesus on Forgiveness contains quotes and wisdom from the teachings and ministrations of Jesus Christ as he communed with the people around him, stressing the need for sincere graciousness and letting go of the desire for revenge. His gentle words encouraging a spirit of forgiveness toward even those who have done us the most harm can inspire and touch people of any faith, Christian or otherwise. “Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’” (Matthew 18:21–22)

Love Mercy is a thoughtful and realistic exploration of forgiveness and making peace from bestselling author and broadcaster Samuel Wells. Utterly realistic about the nature and effects of the hurt we inflict both as individuals and societies, and the conditions and work that is needed to bring healing, it sees forgiveness as a twelve-step process, beginning with resolve and culminating in the newness of resurrection. With deep pastoral wisdom and insight it reflects on the issues and challenges that touch us all and offers a way of living to bring us into reconciliation with ourselves, with others, with creation and with God. Love Mercy is the sequel to 'Walk Humbly' and the second of three volumes by Samuel Wells that offer a basic introduction to Christian faith and life.

Fr. McAlear provides a fresh look at the biblical command, forgiveness. He explains with great clarity how as followers of Christ we are obliged to forgive and how in doing so, we are true Christian disciples. Forgiveness is not an option, but a way of living. It is not a feeling but a choice. We choose to extend forgiveness to others as Christ has forgiven us. Fr. McAlear asks us to face past hurts and search our hearts to see if we hold any unforgivenss towards others and maybe even towards God himself. He challenges us to look at ourselves and forgive ourselves. We open ourselves to Christ's wholeness and healing by extending and receiving forgiveness.

Sister Joan Chittister is a bestselling author for a very good reason. She takes difficult and even mysterious concepts and "breaks them open" for us. Here she tackles the virture of mercy and its connection to forgiveness. She challenges us to stop judging, accusing, and criticizing those we label "sinners" and to see ourselves in their number. She invites us to be realistic about our own actions before we "throw that first stone" at another. This is spiritual reading at its very best.

Real Mercy written by Jacques Philippe and has been published by Scepter Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-01-18 with Religion categories.

In Real Mercy, Father Jacques Philippe turns his focus on mercy in this book that developed from talks given on the first three days of the Year of Mercy beginning Dec. 8, 2015. On that feast day of the Immaculate Conception, he explored how Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is an exemplar of mercy to the Church and the entire world. In a discreet but vital way she dispenses graces and favors with the compassion of a mother. His second essay on forgiveness in families hits home with everyone. No one has escaped the ill feeling and bitterness caused by strife and misunderstanding within the family, and yet the same family is intended to be the path for both earthly and eternal happiness. The author brings to light vivid examples of how lack of forgiveness causes severe damage while forgiveness heals and restores broken relationships. Finally, he uses the writings of St. Therese of Lisieux to show how trust in God’s mercy leads to extraordinary supernatural effects in one’s life and in the lives of those one touches.

Forgiveness written by Pope John Paul II and has been published by Andrews McMeel Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Religion categories.

"We should always forgive, remembering that we too are in need of forgiveness."Christ came not to condemn but to forgive, to show mercy."Mercy is an indispensable dimension of love; it is as it were love's second name and, at the same time, the specific manner in which love is revealed. . . ."Such is the wisdom of the world's most influential religious leader, Pope John Paul II. In the same format as Fear Not, which has sold 21,000 copies, Forgiveness is a touching collection of the Holy Father's thoughts and reflections on the importance of forgiveness in the human experience. This topic is especially timely because it is the main theme of the Vatican's Holy Jubilee Year 2000. As editor Alexandria Hatcher says, "Pope John Paul II understands 'forgiveness' not as an abstract entity to talk about, but rather as a process to be lived." The Pope's impassioned philosophy on the subject can only be described as inspiring and heartfelt. The insight provided by Forgiveness comes from a holy man committed to spreading the importance of God's love and mercy in the face of chaotic modern times. The Pope's teachings on the subject of forgiveness are beautifully edited by Hatcher into four themed sections for readers: Sin, Mercy, Conversion, and Salvation. To acknowledge John Paul II's Trinitarian sense of forgiveness, these primary themes are interspersed with brief interludes on the Son, who bridges our humanness to God's mercy; on the Holy Spirit, who guides us toward atonement; and on the Father; in whom we seek the wholeness that reconciliation offers. Elegantly simple and accessible for any reader, Forgiveness is the perfect book for any person seeking to understand the special and pivotal role forgiveness can have in his or her life.

Justice Forgiveness And Mercy written by Michael Gemignani and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-12 with categories.

This book examines three concepts that come up frequently in sermons, religious education, and English translations of the Bible, but, like love, have different meanings for different people, and even different meanings for the same person in different contexts: justice, forgiveness, and mercy. All Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam) maintain that God is just and merciful and offers forgiveness to those who satisfy certain conditions. But what does it mean to say that God is just when your idea of justice may be different from mine? And I may think that some act is merciful while you may consider that same act to enable inappropriate behavior. I may believe that God's forgiveness, whatever that means, is available to every human being, while you may believe that God will only forgive a certain subset of those who claim to be Christian. But we may, when we spend the time to try to clarify what we mean, find that we are either in closer agreement, or even further apart, than we first thought. We were speaking the same language, but we might as well have been speaking different languages, and, in a sense, we were, because we shared no common meanings of the words we were using. I was speaking my language and you were speaking your language, two distinct languages in which the words look and sound alike but mean something different in each language.
