"The greatest measuring rod of love in the life of a Christian may be forgiveness, because God showed His love to us in terms of forgiveness." ?John MacArthur Does anyone really want to forgive? Or admit that we need forgiveness? Whether we're giving or receiving, forgiveness is hard. It seems unfair. It feels unnatural. And as best-selling author and pastor John MacArthur demonstrates, forgiveness apart from Christ is unnatural. It is only as we understand our need, Christ's power and example, and what it reallly means to love that we can embrace two of the most liberating acts of love: forgiving and being forgiven. The Truth About Series For decades MacArthur has encouraged countless Christians to develop a deeper understanding of the Bible and a greater respect for God's truth. In The Truth About series, he now gathers his landmark teachings about core aspects of the Christian faith in one place. These powerful books are designed to give readers a focused experience that centers on God's character and how it applies to their daily walk of faith.

The primary benefit of this forgiveness book is it challenges us to be the spiritual people we were created to be. Living in happy, healthy and whole relationships, with ourselves, others and God. I have seen and heard over the years, so many people talking about forgiveness and what they think forgiveness is. I have come to believe that most people do not know the truth about forgiveness or the power forgiveness has for the one who chooses to forgive and be forgiven. When we choose to forgive, the end result is freedom to live our lives without all the hindrances anger, hatred, resentments, bitterness, and unforgiveness fills our hearts and spirits with. Forgiveness opens ourselves to getting our lives back into a place of balance, so that we can live in peace and harmony with ourselves and then with others. The unique message of this book is the truth and reality it illustrates. It shows how we can live in true spirituality and life from a perspective we can all relate to and understand. It is written from a personal and experiential perspective as I have journey with myself and others. I feel what sets this forgiveness book a part is it is inspired by God, written for God's people. The book will help the reader to know the truth about what forgiveness is and what it is not. I have included illustrations and life stories which will help the reader see and understand more fully and completely what happens in our spirits, body and emotions when we allow anger, bitterness, resentments, hatred and unforgiveness to build up in our hearts and lives. Then what happens in our lives, spirits and hearts when we choose to let go and allow forgiveness to be a part of our life plan and purpose

A lie is a misstatement of the truth with the sole intent of deceiving and creating a false or misleading impression. Therefore, a liar is one who tells lies. Satan is the chief liar and the father of them (John 8:44). Every lie that exists or has ever existed originates with him. From the beginning of mankind's creation, Satan has lied to us and through us. His first distortion of God's Word (instructions) to Adam and Eve was about the tree in the midst of the Garden. To this very day, Satan is still lying to mankind about God and His Word (the Bible). Some of his most dangerous and hurtful lies are the lies he tells about forgiveness. THE TRUTH ABOUT FORGIVENESS exposes Satan's lies and helps led us on the journey to healing, love, life, and prosperity.

Forgiveness from the heart is not something we can do by mustering up our willpower and just choosing to do it. The success rate of this model is sorely lacking. If we try our best to forgive and yet still feel animosity, offended, or remain angry with those who have hurt us, then something is amiss. Forgiving from the heart as Jesus forgave is an outcome of genuine compassion felt toward those who have hurt us (Matt. 18:27). This occurs effortlessly when we rightfully view the person and his offense through the eyes of truth. Forgiveness from the heart is a work of God accomplished in us by Him alone in the same manner as He produces the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). The fruit of the Spirit is not a "to-do" list that we attempt to accomplish. Rather, the fruit is an effortless outcome of knowing God's truth with the heart. We cannot produce His fruit and neither can we produce compassion and forgiveness unless the Spirit brings it about. Like the fruit, forgiveness is the effortless outcome of knowing truth in our hearts with absolute certainty. Only the Spirit can persuade us of the truth in this manner. By reading "Effortless Forgiveness" you will discover how to cooperate with the Spirit as He refines your faith/belief by persuading you of His truth, and thereby, releasing you to forgive effortlessly from your heart.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Chair of The Elders, and Chair of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, along with his daughter, the Reverend Mpho Tutu, offer a manual on the art of forgiveness—helping us to realize that we are all capable of healing and transformation. Tutu's role as the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission taught him much about forgiveness. If you asked anyone what they thought was going to happen to South Africa after apartheid, almost universally it was predicted that the country would be devastated by a comprehensive bloodbath. Yet, instead of revenge and retribution, this new nation chose to tread the difficult path of confession, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Each of us has a deep need to forgive and to be forgiven. After much reflection on the process of forgiveness, Tutu has seen that there are four important steps to healing: Admitting the wrong and acknowledging the harm; Telling one's story and witnessing the anguish; Asking for forgiveness and granting forgiveness; and renewing or releasing the relationship. Forgiveness is hard work. Sometimes it even feels like an impossible task. But it is only through walking this fourfold path that Tutu says we can free ourselves of the endless and unyielding cycle of pain and retribution. The Book of Forgiving is both a touchstone and a tool, offering Tutu's wise advice and showing the way to experience forgiveness. Ultimately, forgiving is the only means we have to heal ourselves and our aching world.
