Freedoms Final Season by Lorraine Louise Webb is a spell binding, fast moving account of the life of her main character, Lisa, as she travels through childhood, marriages, divorces, loss of children, life events that leave her battered, alcoholism and recovery, only to discover that life in recovery, although difficult at times is full of quality and events that continue to help her learn and grow into a strong, successful woman. This story shares detailed events about the life of a woman destined for heartache and failure only to find that while recovery for her continues to be difficult, sobriety allows her to manage even the toughest challenges in ways she had not foreseen. Lisa is a fighter; a woman who takes years to learn her own value and the important lesson here is the value of forgiveness, which eventually helps her to heal. Her recovery begins with a twelve step program and continues as her faith grows with the help of others who have preceded her in recovery. Each season unfolds with powerful poetry inserted to further enhance the intimate emotion of the forthcoming events and allows the reader further insight into the emotions felt and conveyed by the storyteller. The readers interest is captured in the beginning as she reveals more and more truths about her main character whose life is relatable to so many as she continues to learn everything she can to become that valued member of her own family that she has always longed to be. Its a story that will help mothers and daughters learn more about the intricate balance of those delicate relationships; what might destroy them and what is needed to help make them stronger. A powerful read about hope, recovery and relationships.

This is a book about the dynamics of the aspirational society. It explores the boundaries of permissible thought--deviations and transgressions that create constant innovations. When confronted with a problem, an innovative mind struggles and brings forth something distinctive--new ideas, new inventions, and new programs based on unconventional approaches to solve the problem. But this can be done only if the culture creates large breathing spaces by leaving people alone, not as a matter of state generosity but as something fundamental in being an American. Consequently, the Constitutional mandate of “Congress shall make no law…” has encouraged fearless speech, unrestrained thought, and endless experimentation leading to newer developments in science, technology, the arts, and not least socio-political relations. Most of all, the First Freedoms liberate the mind from irrational fears and encourage an environment of divergent thinking, non-conformity, and resistance to a collective mindset. The First Freedoms encourage Americans to be iconoclastic, to be creatively crazy, to be impure, thus, enabling them to mix and re-mix ideas to design new technologies and cultural forms and platforms, anything from experimental social relations and big data explorations to electing our first black president.

The Conservative Human Rights Revolution written by Marco Duranti and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-12-20 with History categories.

The European Court of Human Rights has long held unparalleled sway over questions of human rights violations across continental Europe, Britain, and beyond. Both its supporters and detractors accept the common view that the European human rights system was originally devised as a means of containing communism and fascism after World War II. In The Conservative Human Rights Revolution, Marco Duranti radically reinterprets the origins of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), arguing that conservatives conceived of the treaty not only as a Cold War measure, but also as a vehicle for pursuing a controversial domestic political agenda on either side of the Channel. Just as the Supreme Court of the United States had sought to overturn Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, a European Court of Human Rights was meant to constrain the ability of democratically elected governments to implement left-wing policies that British and French conservatives believed violated their basic liberties. Conservative human rights rhetoric, Duranti argues, evoked a romantic Christian vision of Europe. Rather than follow the model of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, conservatives such as Winston Churchill grounded their appeals for new human rights safeguards in the values of a bygone European civilization. All told, these efforts served as a basis for reconciliation between Germans and the "West," the exclusion of communists from the European project, and the denial of equal protection to colonized peoples. Illuminating the history of internationalism and international law, and elucidating Churchill's Europeanism and critical contribution to the genesis of the ECHR, this book revisits the ethical foundations of European integration across the first half of the twentieth century and offers a new perspective on the crisis in which the European Union finds itself today.

FINDING LIFE IN THE LAST SEASON Encouragement for the Aged and Those Who Care for Them This collection of short stories and devotions address the pain and loss of end of-life issues in a straightforward but encouraging way. With the youngest of the "baby boomers" now approaching the age of 50, the numbers of those caring for an aging loved one are growing at a staggering rate. With that grows the need for both to be understood, and to understand, this last season of life. While there is little material available to address these spiritual and emotional needs, God's word is most clear on the esteem He places on the elderly. With that in mind, Finding Life in the Last Seasonwas written to speak to the needs of this swiftly growing audience, and to impact the mission field of the elderly living in care facilities. This collection of devotions and short stories were written and shared in care facility outreaches for the aged, sick and dying over a decade of ministry, and have encouraged thousands with the truth that God's love is constant in changing circumstances; and that through Christ, there is life... even in the last season.
