Neurodevelopmental disorders are generally influenced by genetic as well as intrauterine and extrauterine factors that affect the fetal-maternal environment and/or brain development that continues after birth. Specific genetic polymorphisms may increase susceptibility to environmental factors that alter the trajectory of brain development via diverse molecular mechanisms. In particular, the pre- and post-natal exposure to neurotoxic metals, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants, and other chemicals is increasingly recognized as involved in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism, deficiency attention/hyperactivity disorders, neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, chronic multiple sclerosis, and even fetal and infant death, including SIUDS (Sudden Unexplained Intrauterine Death Syndrome) and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

This book takes a deep dive into several key linear algebra subjects as they apply to data analytics and data mining. The book offers a case study approach where each case will be grounded in a real-world application. This text is meant to be used for a second course in applications of Linear Algebra to Data Analytics, with a supplemental chapter on Decision Trees and their applications in regression analysis. The text can be considered in two different but overlapping general data analytics categories: clustering and interpolation. Knowledge of mathematical techniques related to data analytics and exposure to interpretation of results within a data analytics context are particularly valuable for students studying undergraduate mathematics. Each chapter of this text takes the reader through several relevant case studies using real-world data. All data sets, as well as Python and R syntax, are provided to the reader through links to Github documentation. Following each chapter is a short exercise set in which students are encouraged to use technology to apply their expanding knowledge of linear algebra as it is applied to data analytics. A basic knowledge of the concepts in a first Linear Algebra course is assumed; however, an overview of key concepts is presented in the Introduction and as needed throughout the text.

This is the first book to offer a critical analysis of one variant of the mystery story or novel—the use of a physician as the major detective. There is little difference between a medical “case study” and a mystery story. The book reviews the works of major authors, from R. Austin Freeman, Helen McCloy, Josephine Bell, and H.C. Bailey, to Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, Aaron Elkins, and Colin Cotterill, with briefer reviews of minor authors. It also addresses historical (fictional) physician detectives, psychological detectives, and physician detective nonfiction. Physicians and health workers are avid readers of detective fiction and will welcome this volume, which addresses their specific interests. Its critical analysis of books that have long been viewed as central to detective fiction will also appeal to fans of the mystery story.

Once part of the Kalmar Union-along with Denmark and Norway-the Kingdom of Sweden broke free in order to govern itself in the early 1500s, and for more than a century afterwards it was a force to be reckoned with. At its peak, it was twice the size that it is today, but with the secession of Finland in 1809 and the rise of Russia, Sweden changed its path and instead turned toward neutrality and a peaceful existence. Today, Sweden boasts a healthy economy, and it is an important member of the European Union, as well a major contributor to international activities. The A to Z of Sweden relates the history of Sweden through a chronology, a list of acronyms and abbreviations, an introductory essay, a bibliography, appendixes, and hundreds of cross-referenced dictionary entries on significant persons, events, and institutions, this dictionary provides information ranging from politics to economics, from education to religion, and from music to literature.
