This textbook covers business architecture modeling in all its essential aspects. Based on the MMABP Philosophical Framework for Business System Modelling it provides a comprehensive overview of four basic dimensions of the business system model together with their essential relationships. The methods, techniques, and tools are described and explained for every model type with examples. Special attention is paid to integrating all dimensions using the Business System Consistency Framework. The book is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 introduces business architecture and the approaches and tools to model it. MMABP is introduced with its basic principles and put in context with other approaches to business architecture modeling. Chapter 2 then deals with the modeling of a business system in terms of its objectives. The basic principles of process modeling, the distinction between global and detailed views of processes, and an approach to managing the detail of the process model in the form of four levels of process abstraction are introduced. Chapter 3 describes the modeling of a business system in terms of its underlying concepts and the business rules that apply within the modeled system. The basic principles of object modeling, the distinction between global and detailed views of objects, and the approach to capturing the object life cycles are introduced. Chapter 4 presents a simplified metamodel that describes how all models of the business system are related, and consistency rules that guide the analysts to avoid possible inconsistencies. Chapter 5 focuses on the implementation of the business system in an organization. It describes the role and specifics of its information system, explains the comprehensive procedure for building the process-driven organization, and reflects on the organizational maturity and its role in the further development of a process-driven organization. Eventually, Chapter 6 presents a complex example of the application of MMABP, including the functioning prototype of the process system. The prototype is then used to illustrate an essential difference between the conceptual and technology levels of models, and the importance of distinguishing between them. This textbook is written for students in enterprise architecture or business information systems as well as for professionals developing enterprise information systems or process-driven organizations.

"The book is divided into five parts: parts I and II take a general perspective on enterprise, systems, and frameworks, parts III and IV are focused on technical aspects, and part V takes a prospective view on new challenges and technologies . Part one outlines the basics of enterprise architecture modeling: Enterprises' maps (or blueprints) and territories (environments, systems, processes) Modeling primer: objects and surrogates Modeling paradigm: environments and systems Part two explains the core ideas of EA as a discipline: Distinction between business and systems perspectives Benefits of frameworks to map architectures and the management of changes The Pagoda blueprint as a revised understanding of the Zachman framework Part three considers the all-inclusive representation of data (environments), information (systems), and knowledge (enterprise): Descriptive and prescriptive models Profiles, meta-models, and the benefits of ontologies Ontologies, Knowledge graphs, and the building of actionable maps of environments, organization, and systems. Decision-making processes and the seamless integration of systems and representations. Part four deals with engineering and the transformation of enterprise architectures: Taxonomy of requirements and the distinction between architecture-oriented and business-driven requirements. Refactoring of requirements along enterprise architecture concerns, with a focus on digital transformation. Role of Use cases for the definition of business objectives, user-driven applications, and systems-oriented functions. Role of Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) at the hub of enterprise architecture transformations, between Agile developments and systems modernization. Part five considers enterprises as viable organisms and the consequences of new technologies for their resilience and evolution: Enterprises' capacity to change in terms of architecture versatility and plasticity, and the benefits of a revisited Capacity maturity model integration (CMMI) Evolutionary impact of Artificial intelligence and Machine-learning technologies with regard to enterprises' resilience in the face of disruptive changes in environments"--

Modeling Enterprise Architecture with TOGAF explains everything you need to know to effectively model enterprise architecture with The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), the leading EA standard. This solution-focused reference presents key techniques and illustrative examples to help you model enterprise architecture. This book describes the TOGAF standard and its structure, from the architecture transformation method to governance, and presents enterprise architecture modeling practices with plenty of examples of TOGAF deliverables in the context of a case study. Although widespread and growing quickly, enterprise architecture is delicate to manage across all its dimensions. Focusing on the architecture transformation method, TOGAF provides a wide framework, which covers the repository, governance, and a set of recognized best practices. The examples featured in this book were realized using the open source Modelio tool, which includes extensions for TOGAF. - Includes intuitive summaries of the complex TOGAF standard to let you effectively model enterprise architecture - Uses practical examples to illustrate ways to adapt TOGAF to the needs of your enterprise - Provides model examples with Modelio, a free modeling tool, letting you exercise TOGAF modeling immediately using a dedicated tool - Combines existing modeling standards with TOGAF

This textbook provides a comprehensive, holistic, scientifically precise, and practically relevant description of Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM). Based on state-of-the-art concepts, it also addresses current trends like disruptive digitization or agile methods. The book is structured in five chapters. The first chapter offers a comprehensive overview of EAM. It addresses questions like: what does EAM mean, what is the history of EAM, why do enterprises need EAM, what are its goals, and how is it related to digitalization? It also includes a short overview of essential EAM standards and literature. The second chapter provides an overview of Enterprise Architecture (EA). It starts with clarifying basic terminology and the difference between EA and EAM. It also gives a short summary of existing EA frameworks and methods for structuring the digital ecosystem into layers and views. The third chapter addresses the strategic and tactical context of the EAM capability in an enterprise. It defines essential terms and parameters in the context of enterprise strategy and tactics as well as the operative, organizational context of EAM. The fourth chapter specifies the detailed goals, processes, functions, artifacts, roles and tools of EAM, building the basis for an EAM process framework that provides a comprehensive overview of EAM processes and functions. Closing the circle, the last chapter describes how to evaluate EAM in an enterprise. It starts by laying out core terminology, like “metric” and “strategic performance measurement system” and ends with a framework that integrates the various measuring areas in the context of EA and EAM. This textbook focuses on two groups: First, EAM scholars, ie bachelor or master students of Business Information Systems, Business Administration or Computer Science. And second, EAM practitioners working in the field of IT strategy or EA who need a reliable, scientifically solid, and practically proven state-of-the-art description of essential EAM methods.
