Genitourinary (GU) cancers refer to the cancers which occur in the urinary system and the male reproductive system. The main parts of the urinary system are urethra, kidneys, ureters and bladder. There are various types of GU cancers such as kidney cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. The diagnosis of these cancers can be done by performing tests such as medical imaging and biopsy. Patients of GU cancers require special care and medication. Surgery, radiation and chemotherapy are some of the major treatment options for GU cancers. This book strives to provide a fair idea about genitourinary cancers and to help develop a better understanding of the latest advances in their clinical management. It also aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects related to their molecular pathogenesis. A number of latest researches have been included to keep the readers up-to-date with the global concepts related to this medical condition.

Genomic Applications In Pathology written by George Jabboure Netto and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12-10 with Medical categories.

The recent advances in genomics are continuing to reshape our approach to diagnostics, prognostics and therapeutics in oncologic and other disorders. A paradigm shift in pharmacogenomics and in the diagnosis of genetic inherited diseases and infectious diseases is unfolding as the result of implementation of next generation genomic technologies. With rapidly growing knowledge and applications driving this revolution, along with significant technologic and cost changes, genomic approaches are becoming the primary methods in many laboratories and for many diseases. As a result, a plethora of clinical genomic applications have been implemented in diagnostic pathology laboratories, and the applications and demands continue to evolve rapidly. This has created a tremendous need for a comprehensive resource on genomic applications in clinical and anatomic pathology. We believe that our current textbook provides such a resource to practicing molecular pathologists, hematopathologists and other subspecialized pathologists, general pathologists, pathology and other trainees, oncologists, geneticists and a growing spectrum of other clinicians. With periodic updates and a sufficiently rapid time from submission to publication, this textbook will be the resource of choice for many professionals and teaching programs. Its focus on genomics parallels the evolution of these technologies as primary methods in the clinical lab. The rapid evolution of genomics and its applications in medicine necessitates the (frequent) updating of this publication. This text will provide a state-of-the art review of the scientific principles underlying next generation genomic technologies and the required bioinformatics approaches to analyses of the daunting amount of data generated by current and emerging genomic technologies. Implementation roadmaps for various clinical assays such as single gene, gene panels, whole exome and whole genome assays will be discussed together with issues related to reporting and the pathologist’s role in interpretation and clinical integration of genomic tests results. Genomic applications for site-specific solid tumors and hematologic neoplasms will be detailed. Genomic applications in pharmacogenomics, inherited genetic diseases and infectious diseases will also be discussed. The latest iteration of practice recommendations or guidelines in genomic testing put forth by stakeholder professional organizations such as the College of American Pathology and the Association for Molecular Pathology, will be discussed as well as regulatory issues and laboratory accreditation related to genomic testing. All chapters will be written by experts in their fields and will include the most up to date scientific and clinical information.

Neoadjuvant Immunotherapy Treatment Of Localized Genitourinary Cancers written by Andrea Necchi and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-03 with Medical categories.

This book aims to provide readers with a current overview of enrolling trials with immune-checkpoint inhibitors in the preoperative setting of localized bladder cancer, renal cell carcinoma, and prostate cancer. The advent of immunotherapy has revolutionized treatments of genitourinary malignancy and evolved strategies for multidisciplinary management. This book explains neoadjuvant checkpoint inhibitors in localized genitourinary cancers, providing insights into the mechanisms of response and development of resistance of cancer cells to immunotherapy. It debates optimal trial design of preoperative checkpoint inhibitors in GU tumors, including optimal endpoints and the role of pathologic response as a surrogate endpoint of survival. It also illuminates clinical management of patients with organ-confined GU tumors, such as side effect management and perioperative safety, before providing an overview of biomarker use for patient selection across the early-stage GU malignancies. Lastly, the book provides the reader with the most up-to-date data emerging from clinical trials involving immunotherapy in early-stage GU malignancies. Neoadjuvant Immunotherapy Treatment of Localized Genitourinary Cancers: Multidisciplinary Management provides a comprehensive review of the field, serving as a valuable resource for urologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, fellows in urologic oncology, upper-level residents training in urology and medical oncology, as well as pharmacists interested in RCC clinicians.

This book addresses the most pressing current questions in the management of urologic malignancies. The rapid advances in imaging and molecular markers are placed into a clinical context, with explanation of their effects on prognosis and treatment planning. Similarly, progress in immunotherapy is carefully examined, focusing in particular on the role of immune checkpoint inhibitors in both early- and late-stage urologic malignancies. Looking beyond the improvements in minimally invasive techniques for urologic cancers, the impacts of care coordination pathways and enhanced recovery after surgery protocols are reviewed. Readers will also find enlightening discussion of the decision algorithm for the treatment of early-stage, high-grade bladder cancer, taking into account evidence on the most advanced treatment options and the circumstances in which surgery may need to be expedited. The penultimate chapter discusses the Cancer Genome Atlas project for bladder cancer, and the book closes by considering contemporary medical and surgical management of testicular cancer.
