Gerakan mahasiswa Makassar merupakan gerakan sosial yang selalu muncul dan cepat mereaksi terhadap berbagai policy Negara. Mahasiswa di berbagai kota masih berdiskusi tentang berbagai isu yang dianggap merugikan masyarakat, mahasiswa Makassar sudah bergerak ke jalan raya melakukan gerakan dengan keras, militant, dan melawan Negara. Gerakan mahasiswa Makassar selalu tampak keras, militan, kasar, dan konsisten melawan Negara. Atas dasar fenomena inilah riset ini dilakukan yaitu mengungkap terus menerus gerakan mahasiswa di Indonesia. Tulisan pendek berbentuk monograf ini mungkin belum bisa mengungkap berbagai aspek gerakan mahasiswa Makassar, tetapi secara analitis bisa menggambarkan gejala keras, militan, dan radikalisme gerakan mahasiswa Makassar. Memang saya berusaha untuk menulis terus berbagai gerakan mahasiswa Indonesia, termasuk gerakan mahasiswa Makassar agar studi gerakan mahasiswa menjadi studi ilmu politik yang penting. Oleh karena itu, keinginan untuk menulis lagi dalam bentuk buku seperti ini tentang gerakan mahasiswa merupakan kebutuhan akademik.

The O.C., A Critical Understanding, by Lori Bindig and Andrea M. Bergstrom, is a feminist cultural studies analysis of FOX's hit teen television drama The O.C. (2003-2007). Episodes of The O.C. are analyzed as a set of media texts that blur the boundaries between hegemonic and counter-hegemonic content. This analysis utilizes ancillary media such as director commentary in conjunction with content in order to understand how ideological content, in regards to gender, race, class, sexuality, and consumerism, is presented throughout the show. The O.C. is also examined in terms of audience analysis, auteur theory, aesthetics, and reality television spin-offs. Bindig and Bergstrom place The O.C. in a larger social context and explore the potential ramifications of popular media texts, as well as the series' cultural legacy which continues to resonate in media and culture.

Michael Billig presents a major challenge to orthodox conceptions of nationalism in this elegantly written book. While traditional theorizing has tended to the focus on extreme expressions of nationalism, the author turns his attention to the everyday, less visible forms which are neither exotic or remote, he describes as `banal nationalism′. The author asks why people do not forget their national identity. He suggests that in daily life nationalism is constantly flagged in the media through routine symbols and habits of language. Banal Nationalism is critical of orthodox theories in sociology, politics and social psychology for ignoring this core feature of national identity. Michael Billig argues forcefully that with nationalism continuing to be a major ideological force in the contemporary world, it is all the more important to recognize those signs of nationalism which are so familiar that they are easily overlooked.
