This volume, with contributions by top graphics researchers and professionals, is devoted to computer graphics, interactive systems, and human-computer interaction. The paper contributions are from talks given at the annual Graphics Interface conference, now in its 34th year. Graphics Interface occupies a unique niche among conferences in that it seeks to both combine and bridge research topics in and across these areas. Beginning in 1969 as the “Canadian Man-Computer Communications Seminar” (CMCCS), it is the oldest regularly scheduled computer graphics and human-computer interaction conference. This year, Graphics Interface was held May 28-30, 2008 in Windsor, Ontario. Graphics Interface (GI) 2008 is the oldest regularly-scheduled computer

While 3D vision has existed for many years, the use of 3D cameras and video-based modeling by the film industry has induced an explosion of interest for 3D acquisition technology, 3D content and 3D displays. As such, 3D video has become one of the new technology trends of this century. The chapters in this book cover a large spectrum of areas connected to 3D video, which are presented both theoretically and technologically, while taking into account both physiological and perceptual aspects. Stepping away from traditional 3D vision, the authors, all currently involved in these areas, provide the necessary elements for understanding the underlying computer-based science of these technologies. They consider applications and perspectives previously unexplored due to technological limitations. This book guides the reader through the production process of 3D videos; from acquisition, through data treatment and representation, to 3D diffusion. Several types of camera systems are considered (multiscopic or multiview) which lead to different acquisition, modeling and storage-rendering solutions. The application of these systems is also discussed to illustrate varying performance benefits, making this book suitable for students, academics, and also those involved in the film industry.

Advanced High Dynamic Range Imaging written by Francesco Banterle and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-02-10 with Computers categories.

Imaging techniques seek to simulate the array of light that reaches our eyes to provide the illusion of sensing scenes directly. Both photography and computer graphics deal with the generation of images. Both disciplines have to cope with the high dynamic range in the energy of visible light that human eyes can sense. Traditionally photography and computer graphics took different approaches to the high dynamic range problem. Work over the last ten years though has unified these disciplines and created powerful new tools for the creation of complex, compelling and realistic images. This book provides a practical introduction to the emerging new discipline of high dynamic range imaging that combines photography and computer graphics. By providing detailed equations and code, the book gives the reader the tools needed to experiment with new techniques for creating compelling images. A supplemental website contains downloads and additional information.

Grasp Interaction With Tablets written by Katrin Wolf and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-12-27 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book presents guidelines for a future device type: a tablet that allows ergonomic front- and back-of-device interaction. These guidelines help designers and developers of user interfaces to build ergonomic applications for tablet devices, in particular for devices that enable back-of-device interaction. In addition, manufacturers of tablet devices obtain arguments that back-of-device interaction is a promising extension of the interaction design space and results in increased input capabilities, enriched design possibilities, and proven usability. The guidelines are derived from empirical studies and developed to fit the users’ skills to the way the novel device type is held. Three particular research areas that are relevant to develop design guidelines for tablet interaction are investigated: ergonomic gestures, interaction areas, and pointing techniques.
