Arabic Glitch written by Laila Shereen Sakr and has been published by Stanford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-07-18 with Social Science categories.

Arabic Glitch explores an alternative origin story of twenty-first century technological innovation in digital politics—one centered on the Middle East and the 2011 Arab uprisings. Developed from an archive of social media data collected over the decades following the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, this book interrogates how the logic of programming technology influences and shapes social movements. Engaging revolutionary politics, Arab media, and digital practice in form, method, and content, Laila Shereen Sakr formulates a media theory that advances the concept of the glitch as a disruptive media affordance. She employs data analytics to analyze tweets, posts, and blogs to describe the political culture of social media, and performs the results under the guise of the Arabic-speaking cyborg VJ Um Amel. Playing with multiple voices that span across the virtual and the real, Sakr argues that there is no longer a divide between the virtual and embodied: both bodies and data are physically, socially, and energetically actual. Are we cyborgs or citizens—or both? This book teaches us how a region under transformation became a vanguard for new thinking about digital systems: the records they keep, the lives they impact, and how to create change from within.

Mobile And Sensor Based Technologies In Higher Education written by Sözüdo?ru, Oytun and has been published by IGI Global this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-09-23 with Education categories.

At all educational levels, innovation is progressively becoming an intrinsic aspect of learning. The proliferation of mobile devices and sensor-based technologies increased the possibilities for learning and pushed it into institutions. One major challenge accompanying the growth in online education is that many teacher educators find themselves under pressure and underprepared to teach online courses. As online education continues to grow, curriculum and training that prepares teachers for online course design and delivery are critical. Mobile and Sensor-Based Technologies in Higher Education explores how mobile and sensor-based technologies are shaping higher education and creating a roadmap for harnessing artificial intelligence, online learning, distance learning, and other modern technologies to aid education. Covering key topics such as assessment, inclusive education, and social distancing, this reference work is ideal for policymakers, researchers, scholars, academicians, practitioners, instructors, and students.

Deep learning networks are getting smaller. Much smaller. The Google Assistant team can detect words with a model just 14 kilobytes in size—small enough to run on a microcontroller. With this practical book you’ll enter the field of TinyML, where deep learning and embedded systems combine to make astounding things possible with tiny devices. Pete Warden and Daniel Situnayake explain how you can train models small enough to fit into any environment. Ideal for software and hardware developers who want to build embedded systems using machine learning, this guide walks you through creating a series of TinyML projects, step-by-step. No machine learning or microcontroller experience is necessary. Build a speech recognizer, a camera that detects people, and a magic wand that responds to gestures Work with Arduino and ultra-low-power microcontrollers Learn the essentials of ML and how to train your own models Train models to understand audio, image, and accelerometer data Explore TensorFlow Lite for Microcontrollers, Google’s toolkit for TinyML Debug applications and provide safeguards for privacy and security Optimize latency, energy usage, and model and binary size

Embracing Diversity In The Learning Sciences written by Yasmin B. Kafai and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10-12 with Education categories.

More than a decade has passed since the First International Conference of the Learning Sciences (ICLS) was held at Northwestern University in 1991. The conference has now become an established place for researchers to gather. The 2004 meeting is the first under the official sponsorship of the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS). The theme of this conference is "Embracing Diversity in the Learning Sciences." As a field, the learning sciences have always drawn from a diverse set of disciplines to study learning in an array of settings. Psychology, cognitive science, anthropology, and artificial intelligence have all contributed to the development of methodologies to study learning in schools, museums, and organizations. As the field grows, however, it increasingly recognizes the challenges to studying and changing learning environments across levels in complex social systems. This demands attention to new kinds of diversity in who, what, and how we study; and to the issues raised to develop coherent accounts of how learning occurs. Ranging from schools to families, and across all levels of formal schooling from pre-school through higher education, this ideology can be supported in a multitude of social contexts. The papers in these conference proceedings respond to the call.

A Mud-and-Lasers Tabletop Roleplaying Game of Modular Mechs and the Pilots that crew them. Created in partnership with Massif Press, Dark Horse Books presents LANCER. 15,000 years into the future, humanity has survived near collapse and since expanded ever wider into the frontiers of space, organized by UNION, the central hegemon of the populated galaxy. At Union’s heart, the dream of human utopia has been realized; but Lancer is set at the trembling edges of the expansion where resistance to the ideals of the utopia grow. As a lancer, you pilot a mech as unique as yourself. You are, by training, luck, circumstance, or work, one of the best. In this era near the golden age, you have one question to answer above all: who do you fight for? Lancer features a deep, story-rich setting for players to engage with. Every choice they make, every ordnance they mount, every weapon they wield — all of it has lore attached, just waiting for a story to develop.
