This book gives an overview of research on graphs associated with commutative rings. The study of the connections between algebraic structures and certain graphs, especially finite groups and their Cayley graphs, is a classical subject which has attracted a lot of interest. More recently, attention has focused on graphs constructed from commutative rings, a field of study which has generated an extensive amount of research over the last three decades. The aim of this text is to consolidate this large body of work into a single volume, with the intention of encouraging interdisciplinary research between algebraists and graph theorists, using the tools of one subject to solve the problems of the other. The topics covered include the graphical and topological properties of zero-divisor graphs, total graphs and their transformations, and other graphs associated with rings. The book will be of interest to researchers in commutative algebra and graph theory and anyone interested in learning about the connections between these two subjects.

An authoritative survey of the science and advanced technological uses of the actinide and transactinide metals The Heaviest Metals offers an essential resource that covers the fundamentals of the chemical and physical properties of the heaviest metals as well as the most recent advances in their science and technology. The authors – noted experts in the field – offer an authoritative review of the actinide and transactinide elements, i.e., the elements from actinium to lawrencium as well as rutherfordium through organesson, the current end of the periodic table, element 118. The text explores the history of the metals, their occurrence and issues of production, and covers a broad range of chemical subjects including environmental concerns and remediation approaches. The authors also offer information on the most recent and emerging applications of the metals, such as in superconducting materials, catalysis, and research into medical diagnostics. This important resource: Provides an overview of the science and advanced technological uses of the actinide and transactinide metals Describes the basic chemical and physical properties of the heaviest metals, and discusses the challenges and opportunities for their technological applications Contains accessible information on the fundamental features of the heaviest metals, special requirements for their experimental study, and the critical role of computational characterization of their compounds Highlights the most current and emerging applications in areas such as superconducting materials, catalysis, nuclear forensics, and medicine Presents vital contemporary issues of the heaviest metals Written for graduate students and researchers working with the actinide and transactinide elements, industrial and academic inorganic and nuclear chemists, and engineers, The Heaviest Metals is a comprehensive volume that explores the fundamental chemistry and properties of the heaviest metals, and the challenges and opportunities associated with their present and emerging technological uses.

A ring is an abstract structure with a commutative addition, and a multiplication which may or may not be commutative. This distinction yields two quite different theories: the theory of respectively commutative or non-commutative rings. These notes are mainly concerned about commutative rings. Non-commutative rings have been an object of systematic study only quite recently, during the 20th century. Graph is a mathematical representation of a network and it describes the relationship between lines and points. A graph consists of some points and lines between them. The length of the lines and position of the points does not matter. Each object in a graph is called a node. The subject of graph theory had its beginnings in recreational math problems (see number game), but it has grown into a significant area of mathematical research, with applications in chemistry, operations research, social sciences, and computer science. The study of algebraic structures using the properties of graphs becomes an exciting research topic in the past twenty years, leading to many fascinating results and questions. There are many papers on assigning a graph to a group or a ring. Also, investigation of algebraic properties of groups or rings using the associated graph becomes an exciting topic. In 1999, the zero-divisor graph of a commutative ring Γ(R) was defined by David F. Anderson and Paul S. Livingston as the undirected graph with vertex set Z(R)∗, in which there is an arc from x to y if and only if xy = 0. Through this book, we illustrate some results about the Graphs associated with Rings.

Monomial Algebras written by Rafael Villarreal and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-08 with Mathematics categories.

Monomial Algebras, Second Edition presents algebraic, combinatorial, and computational methods for studying monomial algebras and their ideals, including Stanley–Reisner rings, monomial subrings, Ehrhart rings, and blowup algebras. It emphasizes square-free monomials and the corresponding graphs, clutters, or hypergraphs. New to the Second Edition Four new chapters that focus on the algebraic properties of blowup algebras in combinatorial optimization problems of clutters and hypergraphs Two new chapters that explore the algebraic and combinatorial properties of the edge ideal of clutters and hypergraphs Full revisions of existing chapters to provide an up-to-date account of the subject Bringing together several areas of pure and applied mathematics, this book shows how monomial algebras are related to polyhedral geometry, combinatorial optimization, and combinatorics of hypergraphs. It directly links the algebraic properties of monomial algebras to combinatorial structures (such as simplicial complexes, posets, digraphs, graphs, and clutters) and linear optimization problems.

Multi Shell Polyhedral Clusters written by Mircea Vasile Diudea and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-20 with Science categories.

This volume presents new methodologies and rationalizes existing methods that are used in the design of multi-shell polyhedral clusters. The author describes how the methods used are extended from 2D-operations on maps to 3D (and higher dimensional) Euclidean space. A variety of structures is designed and described in detail and classified giving rise to an atlas of multi-shell nanostructures. The book therefore sheds a new light on the field of crystal and quasicrystal structures, an important part of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The author goes on to show how the recently established methods are used for building complex multi-shell nanostructures and how this completes the existing information in the field. The atlas of such structures is completed with atomic coordinates (included as supplementary material). The content of this book gives a useful insight into structure elucidation and suggests new material synthesis.
