Papers from the June 1995 symposium describe recent discoveries in the genetics, biochemistry, biology, pharmacology, and clinical aspects of neuropeptide research. After a history of the field, coverage includes the use of transgenic and knockout mice in neuropeptide research; CRF- receptor subtypes; individual differences in responses to the behavioral actions of peptides; new peptide-processing enzymes; neuropeptidase gene regulation; interactions and coexistance of neuropeptides and serotonin in spinal autonomic systems; and peptide modulators of serotonin pathways. Prepared by the Environmental Technology Evaluation Center (EvTEC), a service center of CERF/IIEC. This Technology Verification report describes the nature and scope of the environmental evaluation of the performance of the Plasma Enhanced Melter? (PEM?) system for waste treatment. The evaluation was conducted through a cooperative program established in 1998 between the Washington State Department of Ecology, Integrated Environmental Technology Inc., Allied Technology Group, and the Civil Engineering Research Foundation. The goal of this report is to provide potential users and purchasers of the PEM? system with information they need to make more informed decisions regarding the performance of PEM? as an equivalent or alternative to incineration for treating hazardous waste.

Evaluation Of Sset The Sewer Scanner And Evaluation Technology written by Civil Engineering Research Foundation and has been published by ASCE Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-01-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Prepared by CEITEC, a CERF innovation center serving the engineering and construction industries. This report describes an evaluation of Sewer Scanner and Evaluation Technology (SSET) designed to determine the basic capabilities and limitations of SSET for use as a technicallly viable technology for inspecting sewer pipes. The evaluation focused on the performance and in-service demonstration of SSET. The technology involves digital scanning to obtain a flat, "unfolded" image of the pipeline's interior. This evaluation includes field demonstrations performed at 13 municipal public works agencies throughout North America. Subsequent to this evaluation, SSET was modified to include a fisheye lens camera and fiber optic gyroscope, which replaced the rotating mechanical scanner and mechanical gyroscope. The evaluation confirmed the operability of SSET and its viability in data presentation. A degree of enhancement was recognized with additional features, most notably the ability to produce a digital report of the sewer pipe, to identify vertical deflection in pipes, and to deliver easily comprehensible and manageable results. The evaluation also revealed that SSET cannot reproduce all the features typically available from closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspection. Such features include the ability to clearly see corrosion, infiltration rates, and ovality. The limitations in applicability were determined and an economic comparison of SSET and CCTV is provided.

Prepared by the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center, a CERF Service Center. This report presents the HITEC evaluation plan for U.S. Gypsum's Sight and Sound Screen. The Sight and Sound Screen is a post-and-panel wall system designed to act as a sight and sound barrier for highways and as a privacy system for residential and commercial property owners. The HITEC evaluation will measure the performance of the barrier against the criteria presented in this report, which reflect the needs of the highway community. Although this evaluation plan was tailored to one product, as a service to state and local transportation officials the report was expanded to provide guidelines that can be adapted for use with other types of sound wall systems.
