"Prevention research has traditionally focused on preventive interventions tied to specific disorders, e.g., substance abuse, conduct disorders, or criminality. This produced "silos" of isolated knowledge about the prevention of individual disorders but not about interventions that work across disorders. This handbook is the first to comprehensively describe current research and practice in mental health prevention programs that is organized around comprehensive prevention systems that reach across all disorders and all institutions within a community. Throughout the book preventive interventions are seen as a necessary component of effective mental health programs, not as a replacement for therapeutic interventions"--Provided by publisher.

Digital Participatory Planning outlines developments in the field of digital planning and designs and trials a range of technologies, from the use of apps and digital gaming through to social media, to examine how accessible and effective these new methods are. It critically discusses urban planning, democracy, and computing technology literature, and sets out case studies on design and deployment. It assesses whether digital technology offers an opportunity for the public to engage with urban change, to enhance public understanding and the quality of citizen participation, and to improve the proactive possibilities of urban planning more generally. The authors present an exciting alternative story of citizen engagement in urban planning through the reimagination of participation that will be of interest to students, researchers, and professionals engaged with a digital future for people and planning.

Geodesigning Our Future written by Shlomit Flint Ashery and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-05-10 with Science categories.
This book examines how map-based collaboration software can facilitate negotiations in areas undergoing contentious pressures for significant change. Based on case studies from Israel, it aims to introduce a useful model of planning implementation as an outcome of complex interaction to reduce the gap between planning and urban reality. It puts an analytical realist foundation for a productive discussion of the role of future planning and bares meaningful scientific contributions to the general frame of the negotiating process and implementation, which still needs further research and elaboration. Geodesign, a cutting-edge planning approach that is rooted in the history of planning practice, has become one of the most popular approaches for sustainable planning and design activities after 2000s. Planners tend to think of design at a site scale, but geodesign covers a variety of scales, bridging the gap between the regional and the local contexts. This is important because to be practically effective and politically prudent, "smart growth" plans need to make sense across a spectrum of scales and disciplines. This ranges from design, urban design, community planning, town and city planning, and regional planning, up to planning for mega-regions.

Geography Of Happiness written by Eric Vaz and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-02-20 with Business & Economics categories.
This book offers readers a spatial understanding of happiness and subjective well-being. By integrating spatial and geostatistical methods, it sheds new light on the spatial and geographical aspects of subjective well-being. Geographical analysis allows us to measure spatial and regional discrepancies in subjective well-being and to identify heterogeneous profiles in terms of social, economic and environmental patterns. Consequently, the papers gathered here address various topics concerning the spatial aspects of subjective well-being, including social injustice, age, new urban spaces, and tourism. The book proposes a multidisciplinary approach and is intended for scholars and students in the fields of geography, economics and the spatial sciences. By examining several critical dimensions of happiness and subjective well-being, it enriches the complexity of regional decision-making on the path toward happier and more liveable societies.

This book gives readers insight into the state-of-the-art use of artificial intelligence for the environment. It encompasses most of the significant facets of current breakthroughs in the fields of conceptions, methodologies, resources, and leading artificial intelligence solutions for the environment. This book presents research at the forefront on applications of artificial intelligence in combating climate change, natural hazards, and textile dyeing pollution (water pollution), for forecasting, assessing air quality trends, and air pollution monitoring. It explains how machine learning can prove to be an efficient technique to forecast the consumption of energy and how AI can be effective for renewable energy systems. Research in this book widens its scope to present the problems, opportunities, and directives for the application of AI systems in engine exhaust prediction. One of the new and interesting things explored is to provide and predict the rate of decay of human lung tissue (due to Particulate Matter exposure) with the help of AI in this book. Likewise, the book opens its scope to various environmental problems and focuses on giving the best solutions with an application of artificial intelligence; this feature makes this book an indispensable guide for environmental scientists and AI researchers of all levels. The book is written comprehensively so that engineering professionals, programmers, environmentalists, graduates, postgraduates, and researchers from beginning/intermediate level to advance level can be enlightened.

Evaluating Participatory Mapping Software written by Charla M. Burnett and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-04-21 with Computers categories.
This volume provides a framework for evaluating geospatial software for participatory mapping. The evaluation is based on ten key indicators: ethics, cost, technical level, inclusiveness, data accuracy, data privacy, analytical capacity, visualization capacity, openness, and accessibility (i.e., mobile friendly or offline capabilities). Each application is evaluated by a user and cross analyzed with specific case studies of the software’s real-world application. This framework does not discriminate against assessing volunteered geographic information (VGI) applications, as a form of participatory mapping, in circumstances that its application is spearheaded by underrepresented groups with the intent to empower and spark political or behavioral change within formal and informal institutions. Each chapter follows a strict template to ensure that the information within the volume can be updated periodically to match the ever-changing technological environment. The book covers ten different mapping applications with the goal of creating a comparative evaluation framework that can be easily interpreted by convening institutions and novice users. This will also help identify gaps in software for participatory mapping which will help to inform application development in the future and updates to current geospatial software.
Spatial Methods In Transdisciplinarity For Urban Sustainability

Spatial Methods In Transdisciplinarity For Urban Sustainability written by Fraya Frehse and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-08-06 with Science categories.
The book critically addresses the role of spatial methods in a transdisciplinary research-practice agenda regarding the promotion of urban sustainability throughout the globe with the aid of eight different, transdisciplinary approaches primarily based throughout the Global South and jointly penned by academics and practitioners. While the range of methodological discussions regarding research-and-practice collaborations between scientific researchers and local practitioners (based in NGOs, private firms or local government agencies) as well as independent policy-makers or artists for the purpose of urban sustainability has been thriving vastly over the last years, little attention has been paid to spatial methods in particular. This is not to mention their transdisciplinary use in urban contexts of the Global South. Resorting on empirical settings as diverse as Pretoria (South Africa), Porto Alegre and São Paulo (Brazil), Kolkata (India), Bangkok (Thailand) and Tshwane (South Africa) during the last four (partially Covid-19 pandemic) years as well as Tangerang (Indonesia) from 2001 to 2021, and San José (Costa Rica) between 2004 and 2007, the book sheds light on the following, twofold question: Which possibilities and limitations can spatial methods respectively unravel and encounter for transdisciplinary research and practice, in view of the SDG11 targets? By pursuing very diversified research-and-practice paths with the aid of specific combinations of spatial methods, each of the eight chapters makes evident the book’s central claim: the deployment of spatial methods in transdisciplinary projects for SDG11 has a transformative role. While some chapters especially highlight the personal dimension of the changes brought about to academics by the spatial-methodological, transdisciplinary experiments, others emphasize the academic reach of the spatial-methodological experience accomplished in and through transdisciplinarity. This is an open access book.
