In 1985, police bombed the Philadelphia community occupied by members of the black counterculture group MOVE (short for “The Movement”). What began fifteen years earlier as a neighborhood squabble provoked by conflicting lifestyles ended in the destruction of sixty-one homes and the death of eleven residents - five of them children. Some 250 people were left homeless. Was this tragedy the only solution to the conflict? Were John Africa and his morally and ecologically idealistic followers “too crazy” to negotiate with? The authors interviewed MOVE members and their neighbors, third-party intervenors, and representatives of the Philadelpia administration in the 1970s, and draw on their own knowledge of the field of dispute resolution. By 1969, he got a Master of Science Degree, a Ph.D. in Statistics and a teaching job at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. He bought his first house in October 1972 in the town. He predicted that housing prices in California would rise rapidly, as he and his wife quickly jumped into housing business. By 1979 they built two apartments, got California Building Contractor License and owned many rental housing units. The rising house prices made them instant millionaires. He explains why the US has turned from a land of opportunity for everyone into a land of desperation for many. He explains how to get back to the good old days, bring back America, the land of opportunity.

In November 2008, as the economic decline was being fully realized, Canada's newly elected minority government, led by Conservative Stephen Harper, presented a highly divisive fiscal update in advance of a proposed budget. Unable to support the motion, the Liberal and New Democratic Parties, with the backing of the Bloc Québécois, formed a coalition in order to seek a no-confidence vote and to form a new government. In response, Conservative cabinet ministers launched a media blitz, informing Canadians that the opposition was mounting a 'coup d'état.'
