Backgammon is a fun, strategic game played by two players. Be the first player to remove all your checkers from the board to win this game. Backgammon is easy to learn but takes time to master. The object of Backgammon is to move your checkers around the board by rolling dice. The number rolled equals the number of points a checker can move. First, move all your checkers to your home board. Second, move all your checkers off the board. The game begins with each player rolling one die. The player with the higher number rolled gets to use both dice for the first move. Each dice is moved separately and can be moved forward to any point that is not blocked. When your opponent has two or more checkers on a point, that point is blocked. If the point has your own checkers, no checkers, or only one opponent checker, the point is open. When both dice are rolled with the same number, the player will move double. For example, if double threes are rolled, the player will move three points four times. When a player moves a checker onto a point that only has one opponent checker, the opponent's checker is placed on the middle bar. Any checker on the middle bar has to be returned into play before making any other moves. A checker returns to the board on your farthest point. (i.e., the 24th point).Get your copy today by scrolling up and clicking Buy Now to get your copy today

How We Decide written by Jonah Lehrer and has been published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-01-14 with Business & Economics categories.
The first book to use the unexpected discoveries of neuroscience to help us make the best decisions Since Plato, philosophers have described the decision-making process as either rational or emotional: we carefully deliberate, or we “blink” and go with our gut. But as scientists break open the mind’s black box with the latest tools of neuroscience, they’re discovering that this is not how the mind works. Our best decisions are a finely tuned blend of both feeling and reason—and the precise mix depends on the situation. When buying a house, for example, it’s best to let our unconscious mull over the many variables. But when we’re picking a stock, intuition often leads us astray. The trick is to determine when to use the different parts of the brain, and to do this, we need to think harder (and smarter) about how we think. Jonah Lehrer arms us with the tools we need, drawing on cutting-edge research as well as the real-world experiences of a wide range of “deciders”—from airplane pilots and hedge fund investors to serial killers and poker players. Lehrer shows how people are taking advantage of the new science to make better television shows, win more football games, and improve military intelligence. His goal is to answer two questions that are of interest to just about anyone, from CEOs to firefighters: How does the human mind make decisions? And how can we make those decisions better?

‘A dopamine hit on every page’ Marcus du Sautoy A sweeping intellectual history of games and their importance to human progress. We play games to learn about the world, to understand our minds and the minds of others, and to practice making predictions about the future. Games are thought to be older than written language, and have now become the dominant cultural media—bigger than movies, TV, music, and literature combined. They are also fun. But as neuroscientist and physicist Kelly Clancy argues, it’s time we started taking them more seriously. In Playing With Reality, she chronicles the riveting and hidden history of games since the Enlightenment, weaving an unexpected path through military theory, biology, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and the future of democracy. Games, Clancy shows us, have been deeply intertwined with the arc of history. War games shaped the outcomes of real wars in nineteenth and twentieth century Europe. Game theory warped our understanding of human behaviour and brought us to the brink of annihilation—yet still underlies basic assumptions in economics, politics, and technology. We used games to teach computers how to learn for themselves, and now we are designing games that will determine the shape of society and future of democracy. Games also inform the basic systems that govern our daily lives: the social media and technology that can warp our preferences, polarise us, and manufacture our desires. Lucid, thought-provoking, and masterfully told, Playing With Reality makes the bold argument that the human fascination with games is the key to understanding our nature.
