We see children squealing with delight in new-fallen snow. We see shocked survivors of the tsunami hugging broken bodies. We are not first objective, detached, or neutral. Instantly we are joyful or horrified. A singular force fuels our joy and our horror: agape. Agape is as palpable as gravity. As weight is to gravity, so good is to agape (or, in violation, so evil is to agape). Predominant Western rationalities preclude theorizing of agape. So secular intellectuals, awakened to agape but conceptually hobbled, lament a “crisis of foundations” in ethics and a “legitimization crisis” in political theory. In the light of agape, however, there is no question about any sovereign’s basic ethical responsibilities nor about myriad ethical issues (the evils of pedophilia, rape, slavery, racism, exploiting illness for profit). Thus, agape can ground ethics globally. Moreover, insofar as “faithful” signifies not propositional assent but living fidelity to agape, agape can ground interfaith spiritual consensus. Engaging intellectuals from Augustine and Dostoevsky to Emmanuel Levinas and Peter Singer, tackling issues from animal rights and the essence of spirituality to the passion of Torah and interfaith relations, Greenway demonstrates the spiritual fecundity and real-world ethical potentials that flow from philosophical exploration of agape.

Love And You Shall Live written by Leandro Luis Bedin Fontana and has been published by Herder & Herder this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12 with Agape categories.

This book rethinks the soteriological premises of the Christian discourse on interreligious dialogue and makes an effort to overcome the conventional typology 'exclusivism-inclusivism-pluralism.' From a hermeneutic perspective, the author sets out to find the answer to this predicament in Jesus' life, message, and practice, given the normative character that these possess for Christianity. Moreover, a number of critical studies of biblical texts, such as the parable of the Good Samaritan, have suggested that 'interreligious' conflicts were a serious challenge to be faced in early Christianity as well. By building a bridge between biblical and systematic theology, and seeking consonance with the testimonies of the New Testament, the answer to the issue of religious pluralism suggested here is the eschatological-ethical principle of agape. For love is the capacity to endure difference while constantly questioning and reformulating one's own identity in the face of the other. Accordingly, the Christian category of neighbor is valued as a decisive mediation for both the definition of one's own identity and the realization of God's salvific plan. Thus, soteriology regains the central locus it occupied in Early Christianity as a means of combining God's initiative, human participation, and the growth of His Kingdom.

In this insightful work, the author explores the fundamental Christian virtue of 'agape.' Spicq's genius is the way he combines fine linguistic analysis, exegesis, and theological insight. The three volumes cover most of the New Testament books: Volume 1: 'Agape in the Synoptic Gospels' Volume 2: 'Agape in the Epistles of St. Paul, the Acts of the Apostles, the Epistles of St. James, St. Peter, and St. Jude' Volume 3: 'Agape in the Gospel, Epistles and Apocalypse of St. John' In the writings of St. John there is one aspect of 'agape' which is brought out in singular relief--the aspect of manifestation and proof. Most of St. John's uses of the word should be translated 'manifest love,' 'love which proves itself,' or 'the economy, the development of the divine love.' --from the Introduction

Issues of gender and sexuality have recently come to the fore in all humanities disciplines, and this book reflects this broad interdisciplinary situation. It focuses on issues of gender and sexuality (eros) in the light of the comprehensive divine-human love (agape) which, for the New Testament, lies at the heart of Christian faith and practice. The intention is to outline a distinctively Christian understanding of the male/female relationship reflecting the priority of agape over eros. Key Pauline texts are read alongside modern texts by Virginia Woolf, Freud and Irigaray.

Jesus said not to be arrogant toward me, dont mock me, why do you hate me in your counsel (church)? I have been hated everywhere and loved everywhere. I am called life, but you call me death. I am the one that you despised, and yet you have professed me. Why do you curse me and honor me?? I am all-spiritual knowledge, truth, wisdom, eternal life (John 14:6), and all-understanding of all things. Only those that seek me (in John 4:24) in spirit and in truth and with an open mind, loving spirit, and a hungry soul for truth and only a heart of love will find me (Jesus). And I will give him or her all that he asks for. Hear and listen to my Fathers words (John 14:6, 17:17, and Eph. 5:26) that will give you eternal life. I have said to my disciples that after I, Jesus, and you are gone, Yaldabaoth (John 5:43, 8:44), called the father of error, will come as the angel/spirit/anunnaki of false light (2 Cor. 11:1315) and will teach so-called men of god words of a dead man (2 Tim 3:57). By doing verse 13 and doing verses 4:24, which is 1 Tim. 4:12, these are the men that Jesus warned us about in Matt. 7:1523. People will accept these teachings all because they think (Prov. 3:57) that they are pure and holy because they go to a building that the god with no name (the Fullness = Jesus) will never go into (Acts 7:48 and 17:2425). Singing a song or two, giving a buck or two, and saying that Jesus is my lord (Yaldabaoth and Savior = Jesus; Matt. 6:24), believing that they are safe from the fabled hell (2 Tim. 4:24). Everything in this book is and was taught as truth, which was authority (33 AD to 400 AD). After the Bible (400 AD) till now, all authority became truth. This book is for all those that are looking for eternal life in the Fathers kingdom (John 3:35). This book is for all humanity, no matter what religion you are, the temple or church you go to, or the denomination that you belong to.
