Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Politik - Thema: Völkerrecht und Menschenrechte, Note: 1,3, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Da Gewalt zum Alltag vieler Inderinnen gehört, werde ich zunächst die Situation der Frauen in Indien, sowohl in gesellschaftlicher, als auch in rechtlicher Hinsicht darstellen. Daraufhin werde ich die nationale Frauenbewegung, deren jüngste Entstehung, sowie ihre Vorstellungen und Ziele thematisieren und eine spezielle „Frauengang“ vorstellen. Zudem werde ich versuchen zu erörtern in wie weit ein gesellschaftlicher Aufschrei und Frauenbewegungen einen möglichen Umbruch in der Gesellschaft hervorrufen können. Die Schwebe zwischen Moderne und Tradition birgt auch negative Effekte. So tragen beide Faktoren auf ihre eigenen Art und Weis zur prekären Situation der indischen Frau bei. Die Frauen des Subkontinents haben in ihrer Gesellschaft wahrlich einen sehr schweren Stand und müssen auch im 21. Jahrhundert noch Gewalt und Diskriminierungen über sich ergehen lassen. Während sie zwar größtenteils vom Gesetz geschützt sein sollten, gibt es jedoch erhebliche Defizite innerhalb der polizeilichen und justiziellen Arbeit zur Aufarbeitung der angezeigten Fälle. Die Folge ist ein verhängnisvoller Kreislauf von Gewalt gegen Frauen und Straflosigkeit. Während dieser Zustand über Jahrzehnte hinweg unangefochten bestand, findet seit Kurzem ein Umdenken in Teilen der Gesellschaft statt, das durch einen besonders brutalen Übergriff auf eine junge Frau ausgelöst wurde.
