Industrial Process Identification and Control Design is devoted to advanced identification and control methods for the operation of continuous-time processes both with and without time delay, in industrial and chemical engineering practice. The simple and practical step- or relay-feedback test is employed when applying the proposed identification techniques, which are classified in terms of common industrial process type: open-loop stable; integrating; and unstable, respectively. Correspondingly, control system design and tuning models that follow are presented for single-input-single-output processes. Furthermore, new two-degree-of-freedom control strategies and cascade control system design methods are explored with reference to independently-improving, set-point tracking and load disturbance rejection. Decoupling, multi-loop, and decentralized control techniques for the operation of multiple-input-multiple-output processes are also detailed. Perfect tracking of a desire output trajectory is realized using iterative learning control in uncertain industrial batch processes. All the proposed methods are presented in an easy-to-follow style, illustrated by examples and practical applications. This book will be valuable for researchers in system identification and control theory, and will also be of interest to graduate control students from process, chemical, and electrical engineering backgrounds and to practising control engineers in the process industry.

The early 21st century has seen a renewed interest in research in the widely-adopted proportional-integral-differential (PID) form of control. PID Control in the Third Millennium provides an overview of the advances made as a result. Featuring: new approaches for controller tuning; control structures and configurations for more efficient control; practical issues in PID implementation; and non-standard approaches to PID including fractional-order, event-based, nonlinear, data-driven and predictive control; the nearly twenty chapters provide a state-of-the-art resumé of PID controller theory, design and realization. Each chapter has specialist authorship and ideas clearly characterized from both academic and industrial viewpoints. PID Control in the Third Millennium is of interest to academics requiring a reference for the current state of PID-related research and a stimulus for further inquiry. Industrial practitioners and manufacturers of control systems with application problems relating to PID will find this to be a practical source of appropriate and advanced solutions.

Process Modelling For Control written by Benoît Codrons and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-08-30 with Computers categories.

Many process control books focus on control design techniques, taking the construction of a process model for granted. Process Modelling for Control concentrates on the modelling steps underlying a successful design, answering questions like: How should I carry out the identification of my process in order to obtain a good model? How can I assess the quality of a model with a view to using it in control design? How can I ensure that a controller will stabilise a real process and achieve a pre-specified level of performance before implementation? What is the most efficient method of order reduction to facilitate the implementation of high-order controllers? Different tools, namely system identification, model/controller validation and order reduction are studied in a framework with a common basis: closed-loop identification with a controller that is close to optimal will deliver models with bias and variance errors ideally tuned for control design. As a result, rules are derived, applying to all the methods, that provide the practitioner with a clear way forward despite the apparently unconnected nature of the modelling tools. Detailed worked examples, representative of various industrial applications, are given: control of a mechanically flexible structure; a chemical process; and a nuclear power plant. Process Modelling for Control uses mathematics of an intermediate level convenient to researchers with an interest in real applications and to practising control engineers interested in control theory. It will enable working control engineers to improve their methods and will provide academics and graduate students with an all-round view of recent results in modelling for control. Advances in Industrial Control aims to report and encourage the transfer of technology in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology has an impact on all areas of the control discipline. The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of new work in all aspects of industrial control.

Fuzzy Logic Identification And Predictive Control written by Jairo Jose Espinosa Oviedo and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-01-04 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Modern industrial processes and systems require adaptable advanced control protocols able to deal with circumstances demanding "judgement” rather than simple "yes/no”, "on/off” responses: circumstances where a linguistic description is often more relevant than a cut-and-dried numerical one. The ability of fuzzy systems to handle numeric and linguistic information within a single framework renders them efficacious for this purpose. Fuzzy Logic, Identification and Predictive Control first shows you how to construct static and dynamic fuzzy models using the numerical data from a variety of real industrial systems and simulations. The second part exploits such models to design control systems employing techniques like data mining. This monograph presents a combination of fuzzy control theory and industrial serviceability that will make a telling contribution to your research whether in the academic or industrial sphere and also serves as a fine roundup of the fuzzy control area for the graduate student.

Model Reference Robust Tuning Of Pid Controllers written by Victor M. Alfaro and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-16 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book presents a unified methodology for the design of PID controllers that encompasses the wide range of different dynamics to be found in industrial processes. This is extended to provide a coherent way of dealing with the tuning of PID controllers. The particular method at the core of the book is the so-called model-reference robust tuning (MoReRT), developed by the authors. MoReRT constitutes a novel and powerful way of thinking of a robust design and taking into account the usual design trade-offs encountered in any control design problem. The book starts by presenting the different two-degree-of-freedom PID control algorithm variations and their conversion relations as well as the indexes used for performance, robustness and fragility evaluation:the bases of the proposed model. Secondly, the MoReRT design methodology and normalized controlled process models and controllers used in the design are described in order to facilitate the formulation of the different design problems and subsequent derivation of tuning rules. Inlater chapters the application of MoReRT to over-damped, inverse-response, integrating and unstable processes is described. The book ends by presenting three possible extensions of the MoReRT methodology, thereby opening the door to new research developments. In this way, the book serves as a reference and source book for academic researchers who may also consider it as a stimulus for new ideas as well as for industrial practitioners and manufacturers of control systems who will find appropriate advanced solutions to many application problems.
