The Configuration Space Method For Kinematic Design Of Mechanisms written by Elisha Sacks and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Computers categories.

A novel algorithmic approach to mechanism design based on a geometric representation of kinematic function called configuration space partitions. This book presents the configuration space method for computer-aided design of mechanisms with changing part contacts. Configuration space is a complete and compact geometric representation of part motions and part interactions that supports the core mechanism design tasks of analysis, synthesis, and tolerancing. It is the first general algorithmic treatment of the kinematics of higher pairs with changing contacts. It will help designers detect and correct design flaws and unexpected kinematic behaviors, as demonstrated in the book's four case studies taken from industry. After presenting the configuration space framework and algorithms for mechanism kinematics, the authors describe algorithms for kinematic analysis, tolerancing, and synthesis based on configuration spaces. The case studies follow, illustrating the application of the configuration space method to the analysis and design of automotive, micro-mechanical, and optical mechanisms. Appendixes offer a catalog of higher-pair mechanisms and a description of HIPAIR, an open source C++ mechanical design system that implements some of the configuration space methods described in the book, including configuration space visualization and kinematic simulation. HIPAIR comes with an interactive graphical user interface and many sample mechanism input files. The Configuration Space Method for Kinematic Design of Mechanisms will be a valuable resource for students, researchers, and engineers in mechanical engineering, computer science, and robotics.

507 Mechanical Movements written by Henry T. Brown and has been published by Courier Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-08-15 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Epicyclic trains, oblique rollers, trip hammers, and lazy-tongs are among the ingenious mechanisms defined and illustrated in this intriguing collection. Spanning the first century of the Industrial Revolution, this 1868 compilation features simplified, concise illustrations of the mechanisms used in hydraulics, steam engines, pneumatics, presses, horologes, and scores of other machines. The movements of each of the 507 mechanisms are depicted in drawings on the left-hand page, and the facing page presents a brief description of the item's use and operation. Ranging from simple to intricately complex, the mechanisms offer a fascinating view of the variety of small components that constitute complex machinery. A detailed index provides easy reference to specific mechanisms. Inventors, tinkerers, and anyone with an interest in the history of invention and technology will find this volume a treasury of information and inspiration.

A successful engineer and entrepreneur shares his secrets for producing consistently superior designs at substantial cost savings. Minimum constraint design (MinCD) is a new systematic design strategy that yields major cost reductions and greatly improves the reliability of manufactured mechanisms. For the first time, this practical reference provides the "how-to-do-it" information you need to put this powerful design tool to work right away -- no matter what your level of training or experience. Based upon the author's extensive experience in product design, this timely book clearly explains the advantages of MinCD and tells you how to create better, more cost-efficient product designs using readily available commercial components. Packed with original ideas, design tips, helpful examples, and references - including directories of component vendors - this unique blend of practical and theoretical knowledge will revolutionize the way you work. Contents include: Part 1 - Minimum Constraint Design (MinCD), Semi-MinCD, and Redundant Constraint Design (RedCD) General Description Degrees of Constraint Kinds of Constraint Beneficial Non-MinCD Part 2 - Designing with Commercial Components General Discussion Rotary Motion Linear Motion Power Other Components Part 3 - Topics in Design Engineering Designing with Uncommon Manufacturing Processes Manfacturing Engineering Optimum Level of Mechanization and Automation Robots Robot Grippers Selecting Power Forms Backlash Hype Prod Deterioration Electrical and Mechanical Technologies: Competition and Cooperation References and Bibliography Reviews
