Die Thematik der Inklusion ist so aktuell wie nie: Am 15. Juli 2015 hat der Landtag Baden-Württembergs die Änderung des Schulgesetz verabschiedet. Somit entscheiden nun die Eltern von Kindern mit Behinderung, ob ihr Kind an einer Sonder- oder einer öffentlichen Grundschule unterrichtet werden soll. Diese Entscheidung stellt für die Gleichberechtigung von Menschen mit Behinderungen einen sehr wichtigen Schritt dar, doch stellt gleichzeitig Schulen und Lehrer vor eine große Herausforderung. Viele Lehrerinnen und Lehrer fühlen sich darauf nicht vorbereitet, geschweige denn dafür ausgebildet. Es gibt nur sehr wenige Handreichungen, wie spezielle Fächer, die inklusiv aufgearbeitet werden können und noch weniger Erfahrungsberichte. Im vorliegenden Buch wurde versucht die wichtigsten Komponenten des inklusiven Unterrichts mit einigen Grundlagen des englischen Fremdsprachenunterrichts in der Grundschule zu vereinen. Dazu wurden zuerst beide Themen separat behandelt und anschließend miteinander verbunden. Den Abschluss bildet eine qualitative Studie in Form dreier Experteninterviews, bei welchen Lehrer unterschiedlicher Schulformen zu ihren Erfahrungen und Meinungen befragt wurden. Diese Interviews wurden sich dann letztlich noch gegenübergestellt und ausgewertet.

Für die datengenerierenden Stellen in den zuständigen Ministerien und in den statistischen Ämtern des Bundes, der Länder und der Kommunen sollen die vorgestellten Untersuchungen den Wert ihrer Daten für wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen unterstreichen und so ein Bewusstsein für die Notwendigkeit eines leichten Datenzugangs schaffen.
