The symposium had two main aims, to investigate the state-of-the-art in the application of artificial intelligence techniques in real-time control, and to bring together control system specialists, artificial intelligence specialists and end-users. Many professional engineers working in industry feel that the gap between theory and practice in applying control and systems theory is widening, despite efforts to develop control algorithms. Papers presented at the meeting ranged from the theoretical aspects to the practical applications of artificial intelligence in real-time control. Themes were: the methodology of artificial intelligence techniques in control engineering; the application of artificial intelligence techniques in different areas of control; and hardware and software requirements. This symposium showed that there exist alternative possibilities for control based on artificial intelligence techniques.

The emergence of fuzzy logic and its applications has dramatically changed the face of industrial control engineering. Over the last two decades, fuzzy logic has allowed control engineers to meet and overcome the challenges of developing effective controllers for increasingly complex systems with poorly defined dynamics. Today's engineers need a working knowledge of the principles and techniques of fuzzy logic-Intelligent Control provides it. The author first introduces the traditional control techniques and contrasts them with intelligent control. He then presents several methods of representing and processing knowledge and introduces fuzzy logic as one such method. He highlights the advantages of fuzzy logic over other techniques, indicates its limitations, and describes in detail a hierarchical control structure appropriate for use in intelligent control systems. He introduces a variety of applications, most in the areas of robotics and mechatronics but with others including air conditioning and process/production control. One appendix provides discussion of some advanced analytical concepts of fuzzy logic, another describes a commercially available software system for developing fuzzy logic application. Intelligent Control is filled with worked examples, exercises, problems, and references. No prior knowledge of the subject nor advanced mathematics are needed to comprehend much of the book, making it well-suited as a senior undergraduate or first-year graduate text and a convenient reference tool for practicing professionals.

Instrument Engineers Handbook Volume Two written by Bela G. Liptak and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-08 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The latest update to Bela Liptak's acclaimed "bible" of instrument engineering is now available. Retaining the format that made the previous editions bestsellers in their own right, the fourth edition of Process Control and Optimization continues the tradition of providing quick and easy access to highly practical information. The authors are practicing engineers, not theoretical people from academia, and their from-the-trenches advice has been repeatedly tested in real-life applications. Expanded coverage includes descriptions of overseas manufacturer's products and concepts, model-based optimization in control theory, new major inventions and innovations in control valves, and a full chapter devoted to safety. With more than 2000 graphs, figures, and tables, this all-inclusive encyclopedic volume replaces an entire library with one authoritative reference. The fourth edition brings the content of the previous editions completely up to date, incorporates the developments of the last decade, and broadens the horizons of the work from an American to a global perspective. Béla G. Lipták speaks on Post-Oil Energy Technology on the AT&T Tech Channel.

New Approaches In Intelligent Control written by Kazumi Nakamatsu and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This volume introduces new approaches in intelligent control area from both the viewpoints of theory and application. It consists of eleven contributions by prominent authors from all over the world and an introductory chapter. This volume is strongly connected to another volume entitled "New Approaches in Intelligent Image Analysis" (Eds. Roumen Kountchev and Kazumi Nakamatsu). The chapters of this volume are self-contained and include summary, conclusion and future works. Some of the chapters introduce specific case studies of various intelligent control systems and others focus on intelligent theory based control techniques with applications. A remarkable specificity of this volume is that three chapters are dealing with intelligent control based on paraconsistent logics.

The series Advances in Industrial Control aims to report and encourage technology transfer in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology impacts all areas of the control discipline. New theory, new controllers, actuators, sensors, new industrial processes, computer methods, new applications, new philosophies, ........... , new challenges. Much of this development work resides in industrial reports, feasibility study papers and the reports of advance collaborative projects. The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of such new work in all aspects of industrial control for wider and rapid dissemination. Sigeru Omatu, Marzuki Khalid, and Rubiyah Yusof have pursued the new developments of fuzzy logic and neural networks to present a series volume on neuro-control methods. As they demonstrate in the opening pages of their book, there is an explosion of interest in this field. Publication and patent activity in these areas are ever growing according to international is timely. databases and hence, this volume The presentation of the material follows a complementary pattern. Reviews of existing control techniques are given along side an exposition of the theoretical constructions of fuzzy logic controllers, and controllers based on neural networks. This is an extremely useful methodology which yields rewards in the applications chapters. The series of applications includes one very thorough experimental sequence for the control of a hot-water bath.

Handbook Of Pi And Pid Controller Tuning Rules written by Aidan O'Dwyer and has been published by Imperial College Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The vast majority of automatic controllers used to compensate industrial processes are of PI or PID type. This book comprehensively compiles, using a unified notation, tuning rules for these controllers proposed over the last seven decades (1935OCo2005). The tuning rules are carefully categorized and application information about each rule is given. The book discusses controller architecture and process modeling issues, as well as the performance and robustness of loops compensated with PI or PID controllers. This unique publication brings together in an easy-to-use format material previously published in a large number of papers and books. This wholly revised second edition extends the presentation of PI and PID controller tuning rules, for single variable processes with time delays, to include additional rules compiled since the first edition was published in 2003. Sample Chapter(s). Chapter 1: Introduction (17 KB). Contents: Controller Architecture; Tuning Rules for PI Controllers; Tuning Rules for PID Controllers; Performance and Robustness Issues in the Compensation of FOLPD Processes with PI and PID Controllers. Readership: Control engineering researchers in academia and industry with an interest in PID control and control engineering practitioners using PID controllers. The book also serves as a reference for postgraduate and undergraduate students."
