Interaktion ist ohne konkreten Raum- und Ortsbezug kaum denkbar. Dieser Zusammenhang von Interaktion und gebautem Raum steht im Zentrum des Sammelbandes: Wie wird durch und mit Architektur Interaktion möglich und erwartbar gemacht (Interaktionsarchitektur)? Wie bringen die Beteiligten in ihrer Nutzung der Architektur ihr Alltagswissen über soziale Räume zum Ausdruck (Sozialtopographie)? Wie fließen diese Ressourcen in die Herstellung eines je konkreten Interaktionsraumes ein? Mit diesen Fragen ist ein vielversprechendes interdisziplinäres Forschungsfeld aufgespannt, das in empirischer, theoretischer und methodologischer Hinsicht erschlossen wird: mit Fallanalysen zu den genannten Räumen, mit Beiträgen zur Theorie und Methodologie und mit interdisziplinären Experten-Kommentaren.

This handbook provides a comprehensive overview of spatial configurations of language use and of language use in space. It consists of four parts. The first part covers the various practices of describing space through language, including spatial references in spoken interaction or in written texts, the description of motion events as well as the creation of imaginative spaces in storytelling. The second part surveys aspects of the spatial organization of face-to-face communication including not only spatial arrangements of small groups in interaction but also the spatial dimension of sign language and gestures. The third part is devoted to the communicative resources of constructed spaces and the ways in which these facilitate and shape communication. Part four, finally, is devoted to pragmatics across space and cultures, i.e. the ways in which language use differs across language varieties, languages and cultures.

Der Band ist ein empirischer Beitrag zur Analyse von Unterrichtskommunikation. Auf der Grundlage von Videoaufzeichnungen werden interaktive Prozesse im gymnasialen Chemieunterricht unter einer multimodalen Perspektive untersucht. Neben der thematischen Fokussierung sprachlicher Aktivitäten der Beteiligten stehen vor allem körperlich-räumliche Aspekte von Interaktion im Vordergrund. Hinsichtlich des Ergänzungsverhältnisses von Wissenskommunikation und Wahrnehmungswahrnehmung ist der Chemieunterricht ein besonders interessanter Fall: Wissensvermittlung erfolgt immer dann, wenn auch etwas wahrgenommen, d.h. beobachtet werden soll. So werden fachsprachliche Begriffe fast immer im Rahmen von Demonstrationsphasen eingeführt. Der Band reinterpretiert in einem abschließenden Kapitel die Analyseergebnisse unter einer didaktischen Perspektive, der 'De-facto-Didaktik'. Dabei werden Verfahren und Strategien offengelegt, die Lehrer zur Lösung zentraler Anforderungen situativ einsetzen. Ziel der De-facto-Didaktik ist es, Chancen und Risiken aufzudecken, die bestimmte Strategien im Rahmen spezifischer Unterrichtsbedingungen mit sich bringen.

Religiöse Praxis hat stets auch mit Dingen zu tun. Dinge werden bewegt, berührt, in die Hand genommen, aufbewahrt, abgelegt, aufgestellt, geküsst. Rechnet man auch Nahrungsmittel zu den "Dingen", werden diese auch ausgeteilt, gereicht, gegessen und getrunken. Dabei zeigt sich, dass Dinge nicht nur Objekte im Sinn von passiven Gebrauchsgegenständen sind, an und mit denen religiöse Handlungen vollzogen werden. Vielmehr kommt ihnen auch eine aktive Rolle zu. Dinge fordern zum Handeln heraus, evozieren körperliche Bewegungsmuster, verbale Reaktionen und lösen Assoziationen und Erinnerungen an Vergangenes aus. Dinge "agieren" im Kontext religiöser Praxis gleichsam wie Akteure. Sie werden positioniert und sind zugleich selbst Subjekt religiöser Positionierungspraxis. Der doppelt lesbare Genitiv der Formel "Positionierung der Dinge" will diese spezifische Doppelrolle materieller Dinge zur Geltung bringen. Der vorliegende Band knüpft an den interdisziplinären Forschungsschwerpunkt "Religiöse Positionierung. Modalitäten und Konstellationen in jüdischen, christlichen und islamischen Kontexten" an und versammelt Beiträge zur Materialität und Performativität religiöser Praxis aus unterschiedlichen fachwissenschaftlichen Perspektiven.

With attention to the methodological questions that arise from the attempt to study such changes empirically, it offers new theoretical foundations for understanding the social construction and reconstruction of spaces through communicative action. Seeing communicative action as the basic element in the social construction of reality and conceptualizing communication not only in terms of the use of language and texts, but as involving any kind of objectification, such as technologies, bodies and non-verbal signs, it considers the roles of both direct and mediatized (or digitized) communication. An examination of the conceptualization of the communicative (re-)construction of spaces and the means by which this change might be empirically investigated, this book demonstrates the fruitfulness of the notion of refiguration as a means by which to understand the transformation of contemporary societies. As such, it will appeal to sociologists, social theorists, and geographers with interests in social construction and urban space.
