Anschließend sollen Instrumente präsentiert werden, welche an deren interkulturellem Wahrnehmungsprozess ansetzen, um interkulturelle Konflikte zu vermeiden bzw. zu handhaben oder zu lösen. Die zunehmende internationale Verflechtung der Wirtschaft zwingt Unternehmen, auf neuen Märkten Präsenz zu zeigen. Bei ihren grenzüberschreitenden Aktivitäten werden sie mit neuen Ländern, Geschäftspartnern und Kunden konfrontiert. Der technische Fortschritt leistet seinen Beitrag und ermöglicht eine sekundenschnelle Kontaktaufnahme mit inländischen wie auch ausländischen Mitarbeitern und Kunden über Kontinente hinweg. Dementsprechend hat sich der Arbeitsalltag in den letzten Jahrzehnten radikal verändert. Mitarbeiter werden tagtäglich mit internationalen Einflüssen konfrontiert, die am Arbeitsplatz vertretenen Nationalitäten werden vielfältiger, sei es am Heimatstandort, in ausländischen Niederlassungen oder im Kontakt mit Kunden. So auch die unter-schiedlichen involvierten Kulturen: Fremde Sprachen, Religionen, Wertvorstellungen, Gebräuche und unterschiedliche wirtschaftliche Rahmenbedingungen prägen das Bild heutiger Unternehmen. Erfolg und Misserfolg internationaler Geschäftstätigkeit liegen eng beieinander und hängen in vielen Fällen nicht nur vom Grad der Professionalität einzelner Mitarbeiter ab, sondern zunehmend von ihrer Fähigkeit, interkulturelle Interaktionen erfolgreich zu meistern. Wer kulturelle Unterschiede übersieht oder gar von universell gültigen Denk- und Verhaltensmustern ausgeht, setzt sich in hohem Maße der Gefahr eines interkulturellen Konfliktes aus, der ein abruptes Ende der Beziehung mit dem ausländischen Geschäftspartner herbeiführen kann, mit all seinen wirtschaftlichen Folgen. Konflikte zwischen Mitarbeitern, Kunden und anderen Akteuren innerhalb wie auch außerhalb eines international tätigen Unternehmens sind allgemein bekannte Phänomene, dennoch scheint es weder möglich, sie zu unterbinden noch zu vermeiden.
