At the beginning of His ministry, Jesus invites men to join Him. Most of them were fishermen and Jesus told them He would make them "Fishers of men." Jesus is calling them to receive the gift of eternal life, but they don't yet know who He is. What could I possibly say that would encourage you to read this book? Well, let me tell you a story: Years ago I was traveling the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi and I came to an old church with an historic cemetery beside it. I stopped and wondered through the ancient graves, looking at the dates on the headstones. Some of the folks buried there lived to a ripe old age, some lived 30 or 40 years, and some died within a few weeks or months of birth. It didn't take long for me to consider that I knew nothing about any of the people, nothing about their personalities, whether they were rich or poor, influential --or not. The only thing I could tell for sure was that they were born, they lived, and they died. (In the future, that's all people will know of us. We were born, we lived, and we died.) If one were a governor, or a billionaire, it didn't make any difference, all of that was left on earth at the moment they died. The only important thing that occurred in their life boiled down to one decision that they made during their lifetime, --and that was whether or not they had Come to Jesus. Every one of them is now spending eternity in one of two places, just like you and I will in the days to come. Either in the glory of heaven, -or in the eternal fire of hell. The choice is ours. And it's the only choice that matters. And it matters a lot. The Bible tells us that whoever believes in Jesus is not condemned to hell, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, since they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God. If we have not made the decision to Come to Jesus, then by default we have made the choice to be condemned.The original tract, "Come to Jesus" was written in 1848 by Christopher Newman Hall in England and printed in Petersburg, VA, CSA around 1863. It has been extremely effective in helping people to realize their need of accepting Christ as their Savior. The tract was translated into over 40 different languages and over 4 million copies printed by 1900. This book is even more powerful because the content of the original "tract" is supported by over 1000 Bible verses from the easy to read English Standard Version(r) of the Holy Bible.
