The concept of sin permeates Søren Kierkegaard’s writing. This study looks at the entirety of his works in order to systematize his doctrine of sin. It demonstrates four key aspects: sin as misrelation, sin as untruth, sin as an existence state, and sin as redoubling in the crowd. Upon categorizing Kierkegaard’s doctrine of sin, his writings are examined to determine if his hamartiology is consistent across his numerous pseudonyms. To conclude, the study places Kierkegaard’s doctrine of sin within the broader theological discussion.

Tanner uses Kierkegaard's thought, in particular his theory of anxiety, to enrich a bold new reading of Milton's Paradise Lost. He argues that for Milton and Kierkegaard, the path to sin and to salvation lies through anxiety, and that both writers include anxiety within the compass of paradise. The first half of the book explores anxiety in Eden before the Fall, original sin, the aetiology of evil, and prelapsarian knowledge. The second half examines anxiety after the Fall, offering original insights into such issues as the demonic personality, remorse, despair, and faith.

Man is spirit. But what is spirit? Spirit is the self. But what is the self? The self is a relation which relates itself to its own self, or it is that in the relation [which accounts for it] that the relation relates itself to its own self; the self is not the relation but [consists in the fact] that the relation relates itself to its own self. Man is a synthesis of the infinite and the finite, of the temporal and the eternal, of freedom and necessity; in short, it is a synthesis.

Kierkegaard As Theologian written by Arnold Bruce Come and has been published by McGill Queens University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with Philosophy categories.

The companion volume to Arnold Come's Kierkegaard as Humanist, Kierkegaard as Theologian is an exploration of Søren Kierkegaard's deliberately Christian writings, from Upbuilding Discourses in Various Spirits (1846) to For Self-Examination (1851). In his later writings Kierkegaard sought to "get further forward in the direction of discovering the Christianity of the New Testament" to resolve his own spiritual crisis. His struggle to understand how authentic theologizing relates to the spiritual struggles of personal faith led him to a discussion of the three basic foci of his theologizing: the self as gift, that is, a creation "out of nothing" from God; the self as failure, which brings on a state of despair; and the self redeemed by God's love and healing compassion. Come probes some of the problematic aspects of Kierkegaard's theology. He addresses the question of whether God's high intentions and demands for human achievement of selfhood and spirituality justify the unspeakable sufferings entailed in human failures to fulfil those demands. He also explores the puzzling relation between Kierkegaard's seeming assignment of exclusivity to the Christian understanding and experiences of both sin and salvation as well as his assumption of the capacity of humans to recognize the need to turn to the eternal that is immanent in every human consciousness - so-called Religiousness A.

Offense To Reason written by Bernard L. Ramm and has been published by Regent College Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Religion categories.

This book takes as its main thesis: (1) the Christian doctrine of sin is offensive to the reason and repelled by the intelligentsia and academia; (2) without this doctrine of sin much of human life and history remains forever opaque; (3) with it a shaft of light is cast upon personal existence, social existence, and the course of history, giving clarity that nothing else in the religions, nor the philosophies, of the world can provide.
