Global warming. Pandemics. Heatwaves. Droughts. Terrorism. Wars. Famine. And who, really, expects things to get better? At least anytime soon? On the contrary, the future can look awfully bleak. And who, at times, doesn't feel helpless before it all, especially before the unknown? Which is why one of the most tantalizing questions we sometimes ask ourselves is: Can the future be known? Obviously, with people spending billions each year on psychics, palm readers, horoscopes, tarot cards, fortune tellers or even computer algorithms—people think we can know it. Yet are they really going to find answers in a palm reader? The good news is that the Bible provides us with answers, and it reveals that we can be hopeful about the future! Knowing Tomorrow Today is a riveting account which outlines a most amazing prophecy from the Bible, which points to our day, and predicts that the next global superpower will be one that will last forever. It is a love story of a God who so deeply cares for us, that He risked it all by coming down into the messiness and brokenness of our human reality in order to save us from ourselves and the forces of darkness. In Knowing Tomorrow Today, we are given a glimpse of the world tomorrow, a world in which good has forever triumphed over evil. The future will see heaven on earth, a blissful existence in which redeemed humanity forever enjoys endearing encounters with their Creator. Global warming. Pandemics. Heatwaves. Droughts. Terrorism. Wars. Famine. Yes, but there's also this promise as well: "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4). That's knowing tomorrow today.

How To Know written by Stephen Hetherington and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-03-08 with Philosophy categories.
Some key aspects of contemporary epistemology deserve to be challenged, and How to Know does just that. This book argues that several long-standing presumptions at the heart of the standard analytic conception of knowledge are false, and defends an alternative, a practicalist conception of knowledge. Presents a philosophically original conception of knowledge, at odds with some central tenets of analytic epistemology Offers a dissolution of epistemology’s infamous Gettier problem — explaining why the supposed problem was never really a problem in the first place. Defends an unorthodox conception of the relationship between knowledge-that and knowledge-how, understanding knowledge-that as a kind of knowledge-how.

Knowledge And Its Limits written by Timothy Williamson and has been published by OUP UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Philosophy categories.
Knowledge and its Limits presents a systematic new conception of knowledge as a fundamental kind of mental state sensitive to the knower's environment. It makes a major contribution to the debate between externalist and internalist philosophies of mind, and breaks radically with the epistemological tradition of analysing knowledge in terms of true belief. The theory casts light on a wide variety of philosophical issues: the problem of scepticism, the nature of evidence, probability and assertion, the dispute between realism and anti-realism and the paradox of the surprise examination. Williamson relates the new conception to structural limits on knowledge which imply that what can be known never exhausts what is true. The arguments are illustrated by rigorous models based on epistemic logic and probability theory. The result is a new way of doing epistemology for the twenty-first century.

Fundamentals Of Cognitive Behavior Therapy written by Carlton Munson and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-23 with Psychology categories.
A central premise of cognitive-behavior therapy is that individuals bring themselves to their emotions and behavior by how they think. Fundamentals of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy helps therapists and counselors address the important questions of cognitive-behavior therapy--what to ask, how to respond to difficult exchanges with clients, and why to make chosen responses--and helps them get at the cognitive base of clients’emotional disturbances more quickly. The book is unique in that it presents more than a textbook approach to problemsolving; it provides a wealth of data and philosophy that enables clinicians to respond more helpfully to client problems. Readers of Fundamentals of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy learn what therapeutic questions to ask and what responses to give to psychotherapy clients’common difficult questions and statements in ways that better contribute to the long-range happiness and survival of the client. This insightful book encourages therapists to help clients help themselves by showing therapists effective, detailed, responses that help clients answer their own questions and come to their own conclusions about why they react certain ways to specific situations. Among the 164 troublesome client questions and statements to which Borcherdt offers rational responses are: “But I don't feel like it.” “I can't make a decision, because I don't know if it is the right one.” “Why won't things work out for me?” “I can't help it.” “I have so many problems and feelings that I don't know where to begin dealing with them.” “Why don't I change? Why do I keep goofing up?” “Whose side are you on anyway?” Through this detailed look at the therapist's role in heightening client awareness of self, Author Bill Borcherdt, who has thirty years’experience as a therapist, provides a storehouse of practical, hands-on tact and tactics which encourages a problem-solving focus while preventing conversational drifting. He gives readers insights on: basic principles of emotional reeducation and well-being psychotherapy as teaching overcoming emotional disturbance tendencies getting individuals to answer their own questions so they can expose their own potential solutions understanding and overcoming clients’resistance to change a client-centered method of problem-solving interviewing The book illustrates that the primary medium of the therapist's influence is funneled through both direct questions asked of the client and through the therapist's responses to client questions and commentary. Suggested questions and responses in the book help practitioners prepare for interviews and better understand clients’resistance to change. Designed for students in training as well as the beginning or seasoned practitioner, Fundamentals of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy includes 172 rational questions and 164 rational responses, each with commentary that shows the clinical justifications for asking these questions and offering these responses. Social workers, psychologists, guidance counselors, psychiatrists, nurses in mental health settings, marital/family counselors, alcohol and other drug abuse counselors, and other human service professionals will find Fundamentals of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy filled with practical and insightful guidelines for better helping their psychotherapy clients.
