Der Ruf nach Widerstand ist populär geworden: gegen die Herrschaft von Banken, das Finanzkapital, Freihandelsabkommen, aber auch gegen "Volksverräter", "Lügenpresse" und "Islamisierung". Solche Widerstandsappelle fordern nicht nur die Zivilgesellschaft, sondern auch die Bildungspraxis heraus, in der es ja meist nicht um Widerstand, sondern um Anpassung an das Gegebene geht. Insbesondere die politische Bildung, die aufgrund der Interdependenz von Politik und Ökonomie auch für die ökonomische Bildung wichtig ist, steht hier vor elementaren Fragen: Ist Mündigkeit ohne die Fähigkeit, "nein" zu sagen, sich zu verweigern, ohne die Kompetenz zum Widerstand also, überhaupt möglich? Wann ist Widerstand gerechtfertigt oder sogar geboten? Welche Kompetenzen sind erforderlich, um zu entscheiden, wann Widerstand nötig, wer zuständig, welche Form angemessen ist? Was brauchen Menschen, um diese Entscheidung auch praktisch durchzuhalten? Und schließlich: Wie können all diese Voraussetzungen für praktische Mündigkeit erworben werden? Erich Frieds Lyrik zeichnet sich durch die Klarheit seiner Sprache sowie seinen geschickten, aber nie über die Maßen ästhetisierten, lyrischen Stil aus, der seine didaktischen Absichten nicht versteckt. Fried appelliert nicht an die Rezipienten oder spricht gesellschaftliche Aufforderung direkt aus; seine Gedichte sind unaufgeregt und nüchtern, wenn sie auf Widersprüche und Ungerechtigkeiten hinweisen. Dieses Charakteristikum ist auch heute noch von Bedeutung und führt dazu, dass Fried für Einschätzungen zu Problematiken der Gegenwart herangezogen werden kann. Söhnke Post beleuchtet anhand Erich Frieds Lyrik die besonderen Chancen einer literaturbasierten Kulturvermittlung unter Einbeziehung der interdisziplinären Wissenschaft der ›öffentlichen Didaktik‹. Erich Fried's lyric poems are not only characterised by the clarity of his language but also by his sophisticated and appropriate aesthetic style which highlights his didactic purposes. Fried's poetry neither addresses his recipients in a demanding manner nor does he express any social demands. His poems are unagitated and sober when they point at ambivalences and injustices. This characteristic is still highly important nowadays and presupposes the meaning of Fried's evaluation and advice concerning current problems and social challenges. With the help of Erich Fried's lyric Söhnke Post highlights the particular opportunities of a literature-based culture transfer with reference to interdisciplinary sciences of 'öffentliche Didaktik'.

This book presents a comprehensive overview of extant literature on competence-based vocational and professional education since the introduction of the competence concept in the 1950s. To structure the fi eld, the book distinguishes between three approaches to defi ning competence, based on 1.functional behaviourism, 2. integrated occupationalism, and 3. situated professionalism. It also distinguishes between two ways of operationalizing competence: 1. behaviour-oriented generic, and 2. task-oriented specifi c competence. Lastly, it identifi es three kinds of competencies, related to: 1. specific activities, 2. known jobs, and 3. the unknown future. Competence for the unknown future must receive more attention, as our world is rapidly evolving and there are many ‘glocal’ challenges which call for innovation and a profound transformation of policies and practices. Th e book presents a range of diff erent approaches to competence-based education, and demonstrates that competencebased education is a worldwide innovation, which is institutionalized in various ways. It presents the major theories and policies, specifi c components of educational systems, such as recognition, accreditation, modelling and assessment, and developments in discipline-oriented and transversal competence domains. Th e book concludes by synthesizing the diff erent perspectives with the intention to contribute to further improving vocational and professional education policy and practice.
