August 2010 erschienenen Buch "Deutschland schafft sich ab"3 hat der ehemalige Senator von Berlin Thilo Sarrazin entscheidend dazu beigetragen, dass unter anderem der Migrationsdiskurs wieder an neuen Nährboden gewinnt . Doch was macht dieses Buch zu einem Gegenstand des Diskurses, wie funktioniert er beziehungsweise es und welche Macht geht davon aus, oder wird auf das Buch selbst Macht ausgeübt? In den nächsten Seiten soll ausgehend vom Text "Deutungskämpfe"4 von Jäger und Jäger erläutert werden, wie das Werk des Autors auf den Diskurs einwirkt und eventuelle Machtverhältnisse aufgedeckt werden. Auch wird der Einfluss von Spezialdiskursen auf diesen transparent gemacht. Insbesondere soll dies kritisch, also so objektiv und unparteiisch wie es eine Diskursanalyse zulässt erfolgen, weshalb jegliche Meinung oder ethnische Zugehörigkeit unkommentiert und unberücksichtigt bleibt, obgleich die weiteren Passagen aufdecken werden inwieweit Objektivität überhaupt möglich ist. Zunächst werden in einem ersten Schritt die Grundlagen der kritischen Diskursanalyse betrachtet, bei welchem die Funktion und die Wirkung des Diskurses dargestellt werden, anschließend sein Aufbau und seine Struktur näher erläutert und schließlich der Blick auf die Instrumente Kollektivsymbolik und Normalismus gerichtet. In einem zweiten Schritt sollen die gewonnen Erkenntnisse auf den genannten Text angewendet werden. Nach der Anwendung wird das Ergebnis dieser Analyse einer kritischen Würdigung unterzogen. [...]

Dennoch werden vor dem Hintergrund eugenischer Argumentationen seit mehreren Jahrhunderten immer wieder Konsequenzen fur Teile von Bevolkerungen, die von Streichungen von Sozialleistungen bis hin zur Euthanasie, z. B. in Nazideutschland, reichen, gefordert. Wo in den Vereinigten Staaten traditionell die afroamerikanische Minderheit von Eugenikern als von Natur aus weniger intelligent angesehen wird, meinte in Deutschland zuletzt Thilo Sarrazin in seinem Buch Deutschland schafft sich ab" mit fest verankerten Tabus brechen und seine Mitburger darauf hinweisen zu mussen, dass die ursprunglichen deutschen Teile der Bevolkerung sich in solchem Masse fortpflanzten, dass ihr Anteil an der Gesamtbevolkerung auf lange Sicht rucklaufig ware. Ungeachtet der Brisanz dieses Themas weist Sarrazin die Anschuldigung zuruck, dass er ein Eugeniker sei. Sarrazins Quellen sind ihrerseits Verfechter ahnlicher Thesen, die sich meist nur in den Bevolkerungsgruppen unterscheiden, deren Vermehrung Schuld an der Verdummung" der jeweiligen Bevolkerung ist. Welchen Wahrheitsgehalt haben Sarrazins Quellen und wie objektiv sind sie tatsachlich? Zunachst scheint es, nicht zuletzt dank der Aufmerksamkeit und der immer weniger verhaltenen Zustimmung, die Sarrazin und anderen Vertretern seiner These zukommt, als ob die allmahliche Verdummung verschiedener Bevolkerungen ein ernstzunehmendes und von vielen insgeheim wahrgenommenes Problem darstellt, das nur auf Grund von gesellschaftlichen Tabus noch nicht mit der angebrachten Aufmerksamkeit und schonungslosen Ehrlichkeit behandelt wurde, die es verdient und derer es bedarf. The field of anthropology of migration and multiculturalism is booming. Throughout its hundred-odd year history, studies of migration and diverse or ‘plural’ societies have arguably been both marginal and central to the discipline of Anthropology. However, recent years have witnessed the rapid growth of anthropological studies concerning these topics. This has particularly been the case since the 1970s, when anthropologists developed a keen interest in the subject of ethnicity, especially in post-migration communities. Since the 1990s, migrant transnationalism has become one of the most fashionable topics. There is still much to do in research and theory surrounding this field, not least with regard to contemporary public debates around multiculturalism, immigration and ‘integration’ policy.
