The book is the final report of the researches, discussions, conversations around and about the Project PRIN Employability & Competences which took place on March 9th-‐11th, 2017 within an International Conference at the University of Florence. This volume-"Selected Contemporary Challenges of Aging Policy"-is the most international of all published monographs from the series "Czech-Polish-Slovak Studies in Andragogy and Social Gerontology." Among the scholars trying to grasp the nuances and trends of social policy, there are diverse perspectives, resulting not only from the extensive knowledge of the authors on the systematic approach to the issue of supporting older people but also from the grounds of the represented social gerontology schools. In the texts of Volume VII interesting are both distinct and coherent elements presenting the role of local, regional and global policies in the prism of the countries from which the authors originate: the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Turkey, and the United States. The chapters show a wealth of methodological approaches to the perception of social policy and its tools. In the texts there are issues related to the idea of active ageing, discrimination against older people in the workplace, comparability of solutions friendly to employment of older adults in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia as well as focused on the importance of educational forms (universities of the third age, senior clubs, folk high schools, and other non-formal solutions) determining an active life in old age. This monograph also attempted to answer the question regarding how to transfer the idea of intergenerational learning into the realm of practice. This issue complements the chapter on the implementation of intergenerational programs in institutions providing long-term care support. The book also outlines a public policy on ageing in the perspective of the changes over the last few decades (Slovenia) and the case demonstrating solutions to accelerate self-reliance as a key to active ageing (Turkey). We hope that seventh volume of our series will be an intellectual stimulus for further international research on change in social policy and will contribute to the dissemination of best practices as well as contribute to positive social change.

Il sociale interroga la pedagogia. Una nuova sensibilità culturale ed alcune positive tendenze della società civile determinano oggi una maggiore attenzione verso i problemi della formazione ed un maggior credito nei confronti della capacità di progettazione dell’agire educativo. Manca, tuttavia, quel livello di consapevole partecipazione che permetterebbe di individuare il compito educativo come espressione di esercizio della cittadinanza e quindi come leva determinante dello sviluppo e della emancipazione del gruppo sociale. Questo lavoro a più mani, pur destinato ai professionisti del settore, intende richiamare l’attenzione verso aspetti, modelli, luoghi e contesti non sempre raggiunti con la dovuta attenzione e non sempre affrontati con scrupolo metodologico e rigore investigativo. Il tema di fondo è l’apprendimento, che viene studiato in alcuni suoi aspetti meno consueti e nella prospettiva di una comunità competente.

The book proposes an open and collaborative approach to the production of digital teaching contents and to teachers' professional development. Starting from an initial excursus on the undertakings of the Open Educational Resources movement and on the value of collaboration in and among schools, it deals with the topic of teacher training as a back-up to innovation processes, with particular reference to multimedia whiteboards. The theoretical reflection is integrated with the results of the AMELIS biennial project, carried out alongside a network of schools within the Innovascuola (2008-10) framework, and with a presentation of the digital teaching resources produced by the network. Completing the volume, these resources are also available on-line in the form of files and multimedia materials. Conveying the wealth of the experience, they offer teachers and educators useful resources for their teaching activities.

The volume examines the crucial and current connection between orientation, training and teaching professionalism. Gli scenari educativi attuali paiono registrare non poche difficoltà a confrontarsi con la differenza nelle sue più svariate forme; l’impiego di procedure standardizzate e omologanti, l’assenza di un’offerta articolata e differenziata di opportunità, l’eccessivo sbilanciamento sull’acquisizione di saperi nozionistici e decontestualizzati, paiono aver sottratto spazi, tempi ed energie alla promozione di un’educazione tesa a valorizzare le innumerevoli potenzialità di ciascuna persona e orientata a sollecitarne un pieno sviluppo e una completa autorealizzazione. Concentrandosi sull’educazione dell’infanzia, adottando un approccio sistemico-relazionale e facendo propria una concezione di diversità intesa non come discostamento da una presunta “normalità”, bensì quale connotato dell’unicità e dell’originalità di ogni bambino, il volume cerca di individuare una serie di regole implicite presenti nei contesti e nelle situazioni educative efficaci, derivanti perlopiù dalle forme di apprendimento tipiche degli ambienti informali. A partire da esse, e con gli opportuni supporti e giustificazioni teorici, si spinge sino alla delineazione di alcuni criteri didattici che propone alla comunità scientifica e ai contesti dell’operatività concreta ai fini di un’educazione dell’infanzia capace di valorizzare le diversità, di promuovere i talenti, di gettare le basi per la futura riuscita scolastica.
