Les douze textes qui composent ce volume sont issus du colloque international La Locution organisé par l'École Normale Supérieure de Fontenay/Saint-Cloud en novembre 1994. On assiste aujourd'hui à une extension de la notion de locution, qui, traditionnellement limitée aux lexies complexes et aux proverbes, tend à intégrer aussi bien les structures textuelles que la détermination de certaines expressions par des conditions d'énonciation. Le foisonnement terminologique reflète la multiplicité des types d'objets concernés. Face à l'insuffisance de certaines théories linguistiques dans ce domaine, ce sont la dimension pragmatique des usages et leur inscription mémorielle qui sont mises en avant. Tandis que l'étude des locutions en langue se poursuit sur des bases critiques, les différents modes sous lesquels le locutionnel a affaire avec le discours sont de nouveaux champs d'investigation. Le défigement est un terrain d'études privilégié pour les conditions de l'interprétation sémantique des discours. Ces renouvellements permettent de concevoir de nouveaux dictionnaires donnant une image plus complète de tout ce qui, dans les usages, tend à figer le discours.

In recent scholarship, the connection between Middle Arabic and Mixed Arabic is studied in a more systematic way. The idea of studying these two varieties in one theoretical frame is quite new, and was initiated at the conferences of the International Association for the Study of Middle and Mixed Arabic (AIMA). The field of lexicography is undergoing a major revolution. The rapid replacement of the traditional paper dictionary by electronic dictionaries opens up exciting possibilities but also constitutes a major challenge to the field. The eLexicography in the 21st Century: New Challenges, New Applications conference organized by the Centre for English Corpus Linguistics of the Université catholique de Louvain in October 2009 aimed to bring together the many researchers around the world who are working in the fast developing field of electronic lexicography and to act as a showcase for the latest lexicographic developments and software solutions in the field. The conference attracted both academics and industrial partners from 30 different countries who presented electronic dictionary projects dealing with no less than 22 languages. This book is a collection of articles in English, German and French which were presented at the 3rd International Linguistics Conference on the Questions of the Theory of the Language and Methodology of Teaching Foreign Languages in Taganrog, Russia. The conference gathered many scholars, both experienced and young, from Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Uzbekistan, Germany, Spain, Italy, Iran, Jordan, Malaysia, Greece, India, Turkey, Algeria, the Netherlands and Albania; and from the cities of Russia: namely, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Tambov, Volgograd, Saratov, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, and Stavropol. Great attention is paid in this volume to the functioning of different levels of linguistic units and categories of speech with regard to the factors of intra- and cross-cultural communication and pragmatics of speech. The theory of language and speech is represented not only in synchrony, but in diachrony as well in the comparative and typological aspects of the material of languages from different cultural groups, including non-literate languages, such as the Ket language. The ideas of “internal” and “external” forms of the word, and “deep” and “surface” structures of the language are also examined in this volume. A further subject of discussion here is the problem of translation, and the relation of language and speech, text and discourse. The study of the problem of language and speech in comparative terms, and in the treatment of a variety of modern trends in linguistics, gives the picture of a universal mechanism for mainstreaming as the process of translating the word of the language in question. This volume represents some of the most interesting and important ideas and researches in the field of linguistics. The book consists of six parts: namely, theoretical linguistics; lexicology; text; pragmatics; ethnolinguistics and translation; and language teaching methods.
