"Per comprendere il profondo livello di spiritualità espresso da Pier Paolo Pasolini nel corto La ricotta (episodio del film RoGoPaG, di Alfredo Bini, 1962) e collocarlo adeguatamente all'interno del paradosso della sua visione atea della vicenda umana di Gesù di Nazareth, in Il Vangelo secondo Matteo (1964), si può partire dalla rappresentazione che egli offrì della “Passione di Cristo” come punto di partenza della sua critica dell'identità cattolica. Si trattava, per Pasolini, di una identità religiosa chiaramente in declino in una nazione ormai secolarizzata. Pasolini contrappone le politiche del Cattolicesimo vaticano al Cristianesimo delle origini come forza ideologica direttamente proveniente dal messaggio di Gesù, che rivisita da una prospettiva hegelo-marxista. " (Dall' "Introduzione" dell'autrice) ---For the English readers This book published in 2009 is an expansion of the essay "Riformulazione e decostruzione dell'identità cattolica nel film La ricotta di Pier Paolo Pasolini", presented at the conference in Italian studies, 'Italy on Screen', held at the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies, in London, in February 2007 (Senate House). It was republished in the academic collection of articles, "Italy on Screen", edited by Lucy Bolton and Christina Siggers Manson (Peter Lang, London, 2011). The content of this essay, Pasolini's La ricotta and clerical censorship has been vastly acknowledged by the academic community as being a new historical and thematic approach to censorship, and an original thought-provoking contribution to clerical censorship against Pasolini's cinematic treatment of the sacred. Erminia Passannanti has published her findings on Italian cinema and clerical censorship in two separate monographs, "Il Cristo dell'eresia. Pasolini cinema e censura" (Joker, 2009), and "La ricotta. Il sacro trasgredito. Cinema e censura clericale nei film di Pasolini" (2009). In Italian, essays on Pasolini's relation to the sacred and clerical censorship, by Passannanti, are included in the collective volumes, "La Nuova Gioventù? Eredità di Pier Paolo Pasolini" (Ed.
