Tal vez algunos lectores se preguntarán porque se me ocurrió producir un libro de los ángeles, para contestar su curiosidad le diré que en una noche de viernes cuando caminé, en el campo, desde la casa de mi abuela hasta la Iglesia donde me tocaba predicar, como estaba lluvioso no asistió ni un solo miembro. (Iglesia Vertientes, Baracoa Cuba). Yo decidí quedarme en la Iglesia en vigilia y oración y en la madrugada tuve una visión de cuatro ángeles sobre la Iglesia. Su piel era muy rosada y sus vestidos eran como de seda que la brisa lo movía suavemente. Después de esa experiencia los hermanos por si solo se hicieron la decisión de no faltar a los cultos, parece que lo siguen cumpliendo, porque después de 28 años de ausencia yo le volví a visitar y el mismo día, sin anuncio, ni aviso la Iglesia estaba llena, gracias a DIOS, todo sea para su honra y su gloria y era domingo en la tarde. Lo segundo y último porque produje este material es que he examinado en varios países algunas producciones sobre los ángeles y la mayoría no se ajustan a la Palabra de Dios. Puedo garantizar que este es el documento más extenso que se ha producido sobre este tema, pues es el producto de 52 años Bíblicos y especialmente un año sacando todo lo que la Biblia dice de los ángeles y sus relacionados. Yo le digo a los hermanos que los ángeles quisieran estar en el cielo, pero como tienen que estar con nosotros, por lo menos se sienten mejor cuando nos acompañan a los servicios religiosos, donde se canta, se ora, se estudia la Palabra, se adora, se alaba y se honra al Dios verdadero, nuestro Creador. Developments in the analysis of linguistic variation show the need for a theoretical model whereby variants are viewed as cognitively-based communicative choices. In this book, the analysis of the first and second grammatical persons in Spanish media discourse illustrates an approach to linguistic structure and usage as motivated by the need to create meaning at all semiotic levels. Rather than mere sets of deictic forms, persons constitute arrays of functional strategies used by speakers to develop certain representations of themselves and others. The degree of salience attributed to some participant through grammatical configuration – including features like person, way of formulation and syntactic function – strongly conditions the discursive role of that participant, as well as the communicative situation at large. Methodologically, the demonstration conjugates the analysis of quantitative usage patterns with that of specific instances of choice, in order to elucidate the stylistic potential of syntactic forms in media contexts. Understanding variation as the construction of meaning is essential to the scientific advancement of linguistics as an inherently social and cognitive discipline.

Aquest llibre és un estudi de la censura i recepció que les obres d’Ernest Hemingway van tenir a Espanya. En el primer capítol es demostra que quan el nord-americà va escriure «Per a qui toquen les campanes» defensava la política cultural de l’Aliança d'Intel·lectuals Antifeixistes per a la Defensa de la Cultura. A més, s’hi ofereix una anàlisi al·legòrica de la novel·la amb l’objectiu de demostrar com el text s’assembla a les al·legories d’Alberti. El segon capítol resumeix la crítica espanyola sobre les obres de Hemingway. Es fa atenció especial a les ressenyes anticipades que es publicaren a Espanya abans que els seus llibres apareguessen en el país. Cinc dels set capítols d’aquest llibre són resultat de la recerca que s’ha dut a terme en l’Arxiu General de l’Administració d’Alcalá de Henares. El tercer capítol és un resum dels expedients compilats pels censors espanyols sobre les obres de l’escriptor publicades a Espanya durant el règim de Franco. El quart comenta l’expedient que els censors franquistes van reunir sobre el llibre «Hemingway, entre la vida y la muerte», de l’autor espanyol José Luis Castillo-Puche. Aquest capítol demostra com els censors controlaren la crítica sobre Hemingway, a més de censurar els llibres de l’escriptor. El cinquè capítol reprodueix i comenta la correspondència sobre el film «Per a qui toquen les campanes» enviada entre l’ambaixador d’Espanya a Washington i els cònsols espanyols als Estats Units. El sisè capítol publica i comenta la correspondència sobre el film «Les neus del Kilimanjaro» enviada entre els diplomàtics espanyols destinats als Estats Units. El setè estudia l’expedient compilat sobre Gustavo Durán, amic de Hemingway durant la Guerra Civil i personatge de la novel·la «Per a qui toquen les campanes». Aquest expedient aporta una nova interpretació de les al·lusions al poble d’Usera en la novel·la de Hemingway.

Drug addiction and the illegal drug trade are recognized today as major international problems. Efforts to control trafficking and coordinate enforcement policy have until now met with only limited success. Although world opinion, led by the United States, has generally favored hard-line measures, some countries, such as Denmark and the Netherlands, strenuously resist them, while others, primarily poor Asian and South American countries, remain economically dependent on the demand for illicit drugs. Drugs, Law, and the State focuses on the conflicting cultural values and historical traditions that continue to thwart combined attempts among nations to impeded the flow of drugs. This volume is built around the idea that drug control policy largely reflects the society in which it is found. The authors analyze contrasting national policies through theories that emphasize the role of ideology, legitimacy, and history. This cultural orientation opens up new areas of research not often addressed by conventional criminology. Instead of asking why some people use illegal drugs while others do not, several chapters ask why and in what societies drug use is defined as a crime. Drugs, Law, and the State is composed of three sections. The first, “Drug Control Policy and the State,” uses the examples of Denmark, Spain, and Finland to analyze drug control policy in relation to the state as a defined interest group. Part Two, “The Political Economy of Drugs,” considers the political-economic nexus of the drug trade primarily in Asia, and surveys the role of organized crime from an international perspective.
