With industrial systems becoming ever more mechanized and reliant on advanced technology, the complexity of equipment, especially in risky industries, is increasing on a daily basis. A thorough understanding of operations and providing safety for these complex systems has become a firm requirement for many. This book offers the knowledge required by safety professionals to provide and maintain the safety of engineering complex systems. Through a scientific and engineering approach to designing, implementing, operating, and maintaining complex systems, Learning and Relearning Equipment Complexity: Achieving Safety in Engineering Complex Systems details the need for more engineering and scientific knowledge to understand and maintain their safety. It gives clear explanations of reasons for a system’s complexity, based on control systems and non-linear dynamics. In addition, the book addresses the necessary changes in the approach and the procedures for the safety assessment of engineering complex systems. The reader will develop a thorough understanding of what complex systems are, why they are complex, and how they are utilized. This book will appeal to any safety professional tasked with complex systems. This extends to professionals in risky industries such as aviation, nuclear power, chemicals, railway and transport, and pharmaceuticals.

Intelligent Fault Diagnosis And Health Assessment For Complex Electro Mechanical Systems written by Weihua Li and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-10 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Based on AI and machine learning, this book systematically presents the theories and methods for complex electro-mechanical system fault prognosis, intelligent diagnosis, and health state assessment in modern industry. The book emphasizes feature extraction, incipient fault prediction, fault classification, and degradation assessment, which are based on supervised-, semi-supervised-, manifold-, and deep learning; machinery degradation state tracking and prognosis by phase space reconstruction; and complex electro-mechanical system reliability assessment and health maintenance based on running state info. These theories and methods are integrated with practical industrial applications, which can help the readers get into the field more smoothly and provide an important reference for their study, research, and engineering practice.

Complex Systems In Sport written by Keith Davids and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-20 with Medical categories.
Complex systems in nature are those with many interacting parts, all capable of influencing global system outcomes. There is a growing body of research that has modeled sport performance from a complexity sciences perspective, studying the behavior of individual athletes and sports teams as emergent phenomena which self-organise under interacting constraints. This book is the first to bring together experts studying complex systems in the context of sport from across the world to collate core theoretical ideas, current methodologies and existing data into one comprehensive resource. It offers new methods of analysis for investigating representative complex sport movements and actions at an individual and team level, exploring the application of methodologies from the complexity sciences in the context of sports performance and the organization of sport practice. Complex Systems in Sport is important reading for any advanced student or researcher working in sport and exercise science, sports coaching, kinesiology or human movement.

Transfer Of Training In Motor Learning As A Function Of Degree Of First Task Learning And Inter Task Similarity written by Carl Porter Duncan and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1952 with Learning, Psychology of categories.
Transfer between a first and a second task, both available on the same piece of equipment, was studied as a function of degree of learning of the first task and of degree of similarity between tasks. It was found that acquisition of the second task was facilitated by practice on the first task, and that the facilitation increased directly with degree of first-task learning. Positive transfer also occurred with all degrees of inter-task similarity, and increased directly as similarity increased. Differential positive transfer resulting from variation of first-task learning lasted throughout all 60 acquisition trials on the second task; inter-task similarity produced differential positive transfer during only the first 30 trials. Some forgetting of the second task was present after a 24-hour rest; the forgetting neither varied as a function of the two main variables nor was attributable to their presence.
