Remo Bodei ha coltivato a lungo il suo interesse per Giacomo Leopardi. Ne ha scritto a partire dal 1992, spesso in occasione di interventi a convegni e relazioni, fino alla conferenza tenuta nel 2017 al XIV Convegno Internazionale di Studi Leopardiani su Leopardi e la cultura del Novecento. Modi e forme di una presenza. La lunga frequentazione con l’opera leopardiana lo ha portato a riflettere su temi filosofici di grande rilievo, quali il problema del male e l’idea e l’immagine dell’infinito e del limite, anche in rapporto al dibattito sul sublime e al contrasto tra classici e romantici. Bodei si è anche misurato con gli aspetti più rilevanti del pensiero leopardiano, tematizzando il rapporto del poeta con la filosofia e il concetto di “ultrafilosofia”. I saggi qui raccolti – alcuni editi per la prima volta, sempre controllati a partire dalle versioni, a volte diverse, che il filosofo conservava – testimoniano l’importanza assunta da Leopardi nella ricerca storica e filosofica di Remo Bodei.
