Semigroups Of Operators Theory And Applications written by Jacek Banasiak and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-06-12 with Mathematics categories.

This book features selected and peer-reviewed lectures presented at the 3rd Semigroups of Operators: Theory and Applications Conference, held in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland, in October 2018 to mark the 85th birthday of Jan Kisyński. Held every five years, the conference offers a forum for mathematicians using semigroup theory to discover what is happening outside their particular field of research and helps establish new links between various sub-disciplines of semigroup theory, stochastic processes, differential equations and the applied fields. The book is intended for researchers, postgraduate and senior students working in operator theory, partial differential equations, probability and stochastic processes, analytical methods in biology and other natural sciences, optimisation and optimal control. The theory of semigroups of operators is a well-developed branch of functional analysis. Its foundations were laid at the beginning of the 20th century, while Hille and Yosida’s fundamental generation theorem dates back to the forties. The theory was originally designed as a universal language for partial differential equations and stochastic processes but, at the same time, it started to become an independent branch of operator theory. Today, it still has the same distinctive character: it develops rapidly by posing new ‘internal’ questions and, in answering them, discovering new methods that can be used in applications. On the other hand, it is being influenced by questions from PDE’s and stochastic processes as well as from applied sciences such as mathematical biology and optimal control and, as a result, it continually gathers new momentum. However, many results, both from semigroup theory itself and the applied sciences, are phrased in discipline-specific languages and are hardly known to the broader community.

Blow Up In Nonlinear Sobolev Type Equations written by A. B. Alʹshin and has been published by Walter de Gruyter this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Mathematics categories.

The monograph is devoted to the study of initial-boundary-value problems for multi-dimensional Sobolev-type equations over bounded domains. The authors consider both specific initial-boundary-value problems and abstract Cauchy problems for first-order (in the time variable) differential equations with nonlinear operator coefficients with respect to spatial variables. The main aim of the monograph is to obtain sufficient conditions for global (in time) solvability, to obtain sufficient conditions for blow-up of solutions at finite time, and to derive upper and lower estimates for the blow-up time. The abstract results apply to a large variety of problems. Thus, the well-known Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers equation and Rosenau-Burgers equations with sources and many other physical problems are considered as examples. Moreover, the method proposed for studying blow-up phenomena for nonlinear Sobolev-type equations is applied to equations which play an important role in physics. For instance, several examples describe different electrical breakdown mechanisms in crystal semiconductors, as well as the breakdown in the presence of sources of free charges in a self-consistent electric field. The monograph contains a vast list of references (440 items) and gives an overall view of the contemporary state-of-the-art of the mathematical modeling of various important problems arising in physics. Since the list of references contains many papers which have been published previously only in Russian research journals, it may also serve as a guide to the Russian literature.

Operator Theory And Ill Posed Problems written by Mikhail M. Lavrent'ev and has been published by Walter de Gruyter this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-12-22 with Mathematics categories.

This book consists of three major parts. The first two parts deal with general mathematical concepts and certain areas of operator theory. The third part is devoted to ill-posed problems. It can be read independently of the first two parts and presents a good example of applying the methods of calculus and functional analysis. The first part "Basic Concepts" briefly introduces the language of set theory and concepts of abstract, linear and multilinear algebra. Also introduced are the language of topology and fundamental concepts of calculus: the limit, the differential, and the integral. A special section is devoted to analysis on manifolds. The second part "Operators" describes the most important function spaces and operator classes for both linear and nonlinear operators. Different kinds of generalized functions and their transformations are considered. Elements of the theory of linear operators are presented. Spectral theory is given a special focus. The third part "Ill-Posed Problems" is devoted to problems of mathematical physics, integral and operator equations, evolution equations and problems of integral geometry. It also deals with problems of analytic continuation. Detailed coverage of the subjects and numerous examples and exercises make it possible to use the book as a textbook on some areas of calculus and functional analysis. It can also be used as a reference textbook because of the extensive scope and detailed references with comments.

Evolutionary Equations written by Christian Seifert and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022 with Differential equations categories.

This open access book provides a solution theory for time-dependent partial differential equations, which classically have not been accessible by a unified method. Instead of using sophisticated techniques and methods, the approach is elementary in the sense that only Hilbert space methods and some basic theory of complex analysis are required. Nevertheless, key properties of solutions can be recovered in an elegant manner. Moreover, the strength of this method is demonstrated by a large variety of examples, showing the applicability of the approach of evolutionary equations in various fields. Additionally, a quantitative theory for evolutionary equations is developed. The text is self-contained, providing an excellent source for a first study on evolutionary equations and a decent guide to the available literature on this subject, thus bridging the gap to state-of-the-art mathematical research.

Transmutation Operators And Applications written by Vladislav V. Kravchenko and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-11 with Mathematics categories.

Transmutation operators in differential equations and spectral theory can be used to reveal the relations between different problems, and often make it possible to transform difficult problems into easier ones. Accordingly, they represent an important mathematical tool in the theory of inverse and scattering problems, of ordinary and partial differential equations, integral transforms and equations, special functions, harmonic analysis, potential theory, and generalized analytic functions. This volume explores recent advances in the construction and applications of transmutation operators, while also sharing some interesting historical notes on the subject.

Counterexamples In Optimal Control Theory written by Semen Ya. Serovaiskii and has been published by Walter de Gruyter this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-12-01 with Mathematics categories.

This monograph deals with cases where optimal control either does not exist or is not unique, cases where optimality conditions are insufficient of degenerate, or where extremum problems in the sense of Tikhonov and Hadamard are ill-posed, and other situations. A formal application of classical optimisation methods in such cases either leads to wrong results or has no effect. The detailed analysis of these examples should provide a better understanding of the modern theory of optimal control and the practical difficulties of solving extremum problems.

Carleman Estimates For Coefficient Inverse Problems And Numerical Applications written by Michael V. Klibanov and has been published by Walter de Gruyter this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-04-17 with Mathematics categories.

In this monograph, the main subject of the author's considerations is coefficient inverse problems. Arising in many areas of natural sciences and technology, such problems consist of determining the variable coefficients of a certain differential operator defined in a domain from boundary measurements of a solution or its functionals. Although the authors pay strong attention to the rigorous justification of known results, they place the primary emphasis on new concepts and developments.
