To what degree are literary forms and genres of the non-Christian tradition taken up and reworked in the New Testament, and to what extent can we speak of genuine Christian literary genres? He notes that literary concepts and structures for the interpretation of the New Testament are often used in ways that are confusing, or that indiscriminately combine them in research.
