Latin American Cyberculture And Cyberliterature written by Claire Taylor and has been published by Liverpool University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-12-01 with Social Science categories.

This collection of critical essays investigates an emergent and increasingly important field of cultural production in Latin America: cyberliterature and cyberculture in their varying manifestations, including blogs and hypertext narratives, collective novels and e-mags, digital art and short Net-films. Highly innovative in its conception, this book provides the first sustained academic focus on this area of cultural production, and investigates the ways in which cyberliterature and cyberculture in the broadest sense are providing new configurations of subjects, narrative voices, and even political agency, for Latin Americans. The volume is divided into two main sections. The first comprises eight chapters on the broad area of cyberculture and identity formation/preservation including the development of different types of cybercommunities in Latin America. While many of the chapters applaud the creative potential of these new virtual communities, identities and cultural products to create networks across boundaries and offer new contestatory strategies, they also consider whether such phenomena may risk reinforcing existing social inequalities or perpetuate conservatism. The second section comprises six chapters and an afterword that deal with the nature of cyberliterature in all its many forms, from the (cyber)cultural legacies of writers such as Julio Cortázar and Jorge Luis Borges, to traditional print literature from the region that reflects on the subject of new technology, to weblogs and hypertext and hypermedia fiction proper.

»Digital media« is increasingly finding its way into the discussions of the humanities classroom. But while there is a number of grand theoretical texts about digital literature there as yet is little in the way of resources for discussing the down-to-earth practices of research, teaching, and curriculum necessary for this work to mature. This book presents contributions by scholars and teachers from different countries and academic environments who articulate their approach to the study and teaching of digital literature and thus give a broader audience an idea of the state-of-the-art of the subject matter also in international comparison.

Technology And Gendered Genre Evolution In Latin America written by Kelly Suero and has been published by Lexington Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-31 with Social Science categories.

Argentine Women and Technology: An Analysis of Gendered Genre Evolution analyzes the link between gender and technology to explain the mechanisms underlying the association of specific genders with literary genres. Kelly Suero argues that as the democratic effect of the internet affords one the potential to obtain a space of adequate representation, Latin American women—in particular, Argentine women—have come to use technology as a medium through which to obtain a voice through the genres of cyberliterature and cyberculture. Increasing numbers of Argentine women are making an impact on both the literary and virtual spheres as they take technology to new, unexplored areas, such as the flogger youth movement led by Agustina Vivero, and the Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo’s discovery of the ability of DNA mitochondrial analysis to help find missing grandchildren from Argentina’s last dictatorship. As technology continues to influence a free Argentine society, Argentinian women will keep utilizing the medium to become innovative voices in fields previously unavailable to them. Scholars of Latin American studies, media studies, gender and women’s studies, and cultural studies will find this book particularly useful.

The Routledge Companion To Cyberpunk Culture written by Anna McFarlane and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-28 with Literary Criticism categories.

In this companion, an international range of contributors examine the cultural formation of cyberpunk from micro-level analyses of example texts to macro-level debates of movements, providing readers with snapshots of cyberpunk culture and also cyberpunk as culture. With technology seamlessly integrated into our lives and our selves, and social systems veering towards globalization and corporatization, cyberpunk has become a ubiquitous cultural formation that dominates our twenty-first century techno-digital landscapes. The Routledge Companion to Cyberpunk Culture traces cyberpunk through its historical developments as a literary science fiction form to its spread into other media such as comics, film, television, and video games. Moreover, seeing cyberpunk as a general cultural practice, the Companion provides insights into photography, music, fashion, and activism. Cyberpunk, as the chapters presented here argue, is integrated with other critical theoretical tenets of our times, such as posthumanism, the Anthropocene, animality, and empire. And lastly, cyberpunk is a vehicle that lends itself to the rise of new futurisms, occupying a variety of positions in our regionally diverse reality and thus linking, as much as differentiating, our perspectives on a globalized technoscientific world. With original entries that engage cyberpunk’s diverse ‘angles’ and its proliferation in our life worlds, this critical reference will be of significant interest to humanities students and scholars of media, cultural studies, literature, and beyond.

Literatures In The Digital Era written by Dolores Romero and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-03-26 with Literary Criticism categories.

The application of technology to information, communication, and culture has been through the history of humanity a key factor in social progress and well being. Literatures in the Digital Era: Theory and Praxis analyses in its twenty chapters the impacts of digital technology for the contemporary culture. The literary system is being powerfully affected in three aspects. In the first place, computer resources have been used to preserve and edit literary texts, associating to them graphical material, links with related texts or with dictionaries, and, above all, developing search tools of concordance and syntactic/semantic analysis. Secondly, we are watching the birth of a digital literature, with new generic characteristics, new creators, with knowledge of both, technological mechanisms and literary resources, and a reader capable of interpreting and enjoying texts on the screen. Thirdly, literary theory has expressed new postulates with regard to the multiple authorship of digital texts, the disintegration of the textual meaning, the intertextuality and implications of the reader in the creation process and the interpretation of the texts. These three impacts imply, for some authors, the search of a new paradigm for the creation, reading, and interpretation of digital texts, which points to a new humanism.
