December 6, 2017 I'm in Church. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed; it is the season of Advent, and the alter is decorated in purple it is so beautiful! The peace it brings when I look at it, is what life is all about. It's not about me or you! It's about Jesus! Step aside! Let His light shine for all the world to see. As I look up at the stained glass window to the right of the cross hanging, I see the words "You did it." I had just finished this book and emailed a copy to this publisher. Now I have to wait and see if they are going to publish it. I was really nervous; it's not every day you let the world in on your sinful ways! Writing this book was the hardest thing I have ever done. On seeing those words, I knew I was obedient to what God had ask me to do: write the book. Whatever happens after this is in God's hands. This book ends as it started: trusting, believing and living by the Word of God. At age twenty-five, I had finally had enough of my messed-up life. Nothing was working - my car was repossessed; I found out my boyfriend was living with another woman; my roommate just up and left; I had no money; my heat was shut off; I was behind on my mortgage; and I hated my job. I went into my roommate's empty room and cried. I got on my knees and prayed to God to help me. When I woke up the next day, I didn't feel the same way. I felt God's presence in my life. God never leaves us; we leave him. I was the one missing in the relationship. I kicked God out of my life when I chose sin over Him. I had a new beginning. I was born again, and I was going to start living by the Word of God. The best thing I ever did!

How does your personal faith journey relate to the big picture of the Bible? Christians often encounter various Bible passages through unrelated readings, studies, and sermons, making it difficult to grasp the progression of Scripture as a whole. Living God's Word surveys the entire Bible through broad themes that trace the progression of God's redemptive plan, focusing on how each portion of Scripture fits into the overarching narrative. Once you see the Bible as a Great Story, you'll begin to see how your own life fits into what God has done and is doing in the world. Each section of Living God's Word deals with a section of Scripture and includes: Reading and listening preparation An explanation A summary Observations about theological significance Connections to the Great Story Written assignments for further study Living God's Word is ideal for introductory college courses, adult Sunday school classes, small groups, or anyone who wants to understand how their life fits into the story of the Bible, enabling them to live faithfully in deep and important ways.

Thank you for the offerings of these student texts and teacher guides." -Mary Hansel Parlin, Cotter High School religion teacher The Bible: The Living Word of God provides an introduction to the Sacred Scriptures and to the unfolding of salvation history, with a particular focus on Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of salvation history. Jesus said, "It is written that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God," and he told us to "abide in the word and let the word abide in you." What is this "word" and what does it mean to "abide" in it? This is the key question that Joel Goldsmith answers in Living by the Word. Throughout the book, Goldsmith considers specific Scriptural passages and takes the reader far beyond their literal sense to unveil their inner spiritual meaning. He gives thorough and practical instruction about how to work with Bible passages to discern their depth and live by them. "'When we study and search the scriptures," Goldsmith says, "we are fed as never before; we are guided, directed, and protected as never before; but always in direct proportion as we make these passages of scripture our daily bread." Throughout all the Infinite Way writings, Goldsmith asserts that all discord in life is the result of man's sense of separation from God, and that coming into the realization that "I and the Father are one" is the liberating influence. In Living by the Word, he shows the reader how Scripture can play an important role in that journey back to our true Self. As he says, "The way to oneness, to conscious union with God, is through the word of God. It is the word of God maintained in consciousness, lived with, dwelt upon, and abided in that ultimately restores that conscious union." By working with inspirational Bible passages and applying them in our daily experience, our mind begins to lose its spiritual ignorance and becomes illumined, and the outer experience of life becomes harmonious. Goldsmith explains that the spiritual promises in Scripture apply to us only when we are in our spiritual oneness with God and receive them as impartations from within. In a word of encouragement to engage in the valuable practice of Scriptural study, Goldsmith says, "The Bible and the truths of the Bible will not do anything for you in a book ... These Bible texts begin to work for you only after you have moved them out of the books into your consciousness, dwelt on them, pondered them ... and let them take root and grow." Living by the Word shows the reader how to do just that. Note: Living by the Word is the collection of the 1971 Infinite Way Letters.]

Words Of Life written by Timothy Ward and has been published by Inter-Varsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-17 with Religion categories.

Throughout Christian history, the overwhelmingly predominant view of the Bible has been that it is itself the living and active word of God. Timothy Ward explains and defends what we are really saying when we trust and proclaim, as we must, that the Bible is God's word. In particular, he describes the nature of the relationship between the living God and Scripture. He examines why, in order to worship God faithfully, we need to pay close attention to the Bible; why, in order to be faithful disciples of Jesus - the Word-made-flesh - we need to base our lives on the words of the Bible; and why, in order to keep in step with the Holy Spirit, we need to trust and obey what the Bible says. Ward offers an understanding of the nature of Scripture under three main headings. A biblical outline shows that the words of the Bible form a significant part of God's action in the world. A theological outline focuses on the relationship of Scripture with each of the persons of the Trinity. A doctrinal outline examines the 'attributes' of Scripture. A final chapter explores some significant areas in which the doctrine of Scripture should be applied. Grounded in the relevant scholarship, this excellent, lucid exposition of the nature and function of Scripture stands firmly in line with the best of the theological traditions and is expressed in a form appropriate for the twenty-first century.
