Música & Saúde – os três artigos dessa seção exemplificam o papel potencial da música na área da Saúde, considerada em seu sentido mais amplo, ou seja, indo além do aspecto meramente físico/técnico. Em particular, um dos trabalhos discute a noção de capital cultural ao avaliar a resposta de jovens ao contato inicial com a música erudita. Crônicas (&) Reflexões – essa seção difere das anteriores por apresentar um caráter mais informal – mais literário que acadêmico. É composta por um conjunto de crônicas sobre diferentes aspectos da música, incluindo relatos produzidos ao longo do projeto Arte e Reabilitação, desenvolvido com apoio do CNPq. Importante: não há uma sequência única de leitura para os textos do livro. Pode-se ler em qualquer ordem: um possível roteiro de leitura seria intercalar cada artigo de uma das três seções iniciais com algumas crônicas da última seção. How can we better understand the past, present and future of Social Action through Music (SATM)? This ground-breaking book examines the development of the Red de Escuelas de Música de Medellín (the Network of Music Schools of Medellín), a network of 27 schools founded in Colombia’s second city in 1996 as a response to its reputation as the most dangerous city on Earth.
