En 1910, Marinetti publica en francia "Mafarka le futuriste," que meses mas tarde seria editado en italia, valiendole al autor un proceso por ofensa a la moral publica. la novela aparecio en espana en 1921 en version de Julio Gomez de la Serna, sobre la que se basa la presente edicion. Mafarka es un relato de accion demoledora, exhibicionista y amoral que exalta la velocidad, la temeridad, el peligro y la violencia: Mafarka-l-bar arrebata a su tio Bubassa la corona de Tel-al-kebir ante el inminente ataque del rey negro Brafan. Mafarka derrota a Brafan valiendose de la astucia, pero en los combates pierde a su hermano Magamal, mordido por un perro rabioso. abandona entonces el cetro de Tel-al-kebir y decide morir transfiriendo su espiritu a su hijo Gazurmah, una estatua alada de madera a la que da vida con un beso.
