Depuis quinze ans des travaux et des publications s'accumulent dans les champs du management et du marketing du sport. Ils constituent des éléments de base pour synthétiser, ordonner et mettre à la disposition d'un public d'étudiants et de formateurs, les connaissances produites en la matière. Quelques livres existent en France (moins d'une dizaine) et ils sont généralement l'apanage d'un ou deux auteurs avec des objets relativement ciblés ou des approches très générales ou circonscrites. La massification des formations en management du sport constitue une opportunité pour confronter les points de vue et les terrains d'investigation. Deux idées sont apparues comme essentielles pour la réalisation de cet ouvrage collectif : - effectuer une synthèse visant à donner une perspective internationale de la production de connaissances développée en France en management et en marketing appliqués au sport, - développer des contenus articulant données théoriques et données opérationnelles à travers des concepts, des démarches, des outils fonctionnels et des illustrations. Quatre domaines (sport spectacle et relations marchandes, identité sportive organisationnelle et territoriale, enjeux et conflits dans la gouvernance sportive publique, la gestion « locale-globale » des stratégies sportives) organisent cet ouvrage en relation avec l'évolution problématique des marchés du sport.
