Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Kindergarten, Vorschule, frühkindl. Erziehung, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Management of family involvement in the early childhood education is important because early childhood years are the period during which children acquire the basic skills that serve as the foundation for later learning, and social and cognitive development. Moreover, these years are the time when families’ beliefs about their children’s abilities are shaped and when children’s own academic self-concepts begin to form. Therefore, management of family involvement in the early childhood education matters for young children’s cognitive and social development, and learning. The ultimate goal of management at any level of education is the attainment of children’s learning and holistic children development. Therefore, early childhood education should be structured and managed in such a way that family members are involved to facilitate children’s holistic development and learning. That is, the early childhood context should be supportive and effective for family involvement in the early childhood education to enable children acquire appropriate social and cognitive skills. It should be noted that management of early childhood education is a critical issue as it involves golden age of intellectual curiosity and development of the children. Family is the major component for children growth and development in all aspects it interacts with children throughout their life. The research studies link effective family involvement in early childhood education with good children’s outcomes. Children’s outcomes are likely to include social competence, cognitive development, communication skills, literacy development, vocabulary growth, expressive language, comprehension skills and positive engagement with peers, adults, and learning. Therefore, this work supports the ideas that decision to invest in family support and education services is an effective way to promote early childhood learning. Family needs strong support and education programs that improve their involvement in children's early learning experiences at home and that connect families to important community services. In addition, these efforts also require that schools are ready to meet each child's needs and continue to maximize opportunities to engage families in their children's education and well-being in preschools and beyond.

This book reports initiatives to listen to parents and families, to ascertain what families believe and do as they seek to engage collaboratively with their children’s educators, and what educators and educational systems might do to facilitate and/or establish barriers to such engagement. Parental engagement in children’s learning and development has many positive benefits. However, in the current environments of accountability and performativity which are pervading early childhood education in many countries, the opportunities for parents and other family members to be part of the development of respectful, collaborative relationships with their children’s early childhood educators are becoming more and more restricted. Many educators feel forced to choose between curriculum outcomes and parental engagement, as both involve their time. There is a danger that the voices of parents and families in their children’s early learning and development will not always be heard, seen, or fully understood. This volume addresses this important issue. Researchers, educators, and families will all benefit from this book, to the ultimate benefit of the young children who are the future. This book was originally published as a special issue of the European Early Childhood Education Research Journal.

The Early Childhood Education sector around the world is constantly changing, whether because of the unprecedented demand for ECE services globally, accelerated social change, or the introduction of pedagogical and regulatory practices. Based upon empirical inquiry, Early Childhood Education Management examines the somewhat controversial concept of operating an early childhood service as a business. It challenges the assumption that an early childhood manager does not require specialist knowledge or skill and discusses which attributes an effective manager should possess. In this book, which brings together management theory and practice, Moloney and Pettersen address core issues at the heart of the management role, including the relationship between early childhood policy and broader legislative enactments, as well as issues related to the challenges and development of management skills. The book also draws upon real-life examples from practice in order to offer insight into some of the most common topics and challenges related to management practice in Early Childhood Education, such as business acumen and entrepreneurship, recruitment and selection, financial management and budgeting, supervision, mentoring, staff development, curriculum management, collaborative working, and change management. Written by leading academics with practice experience, the book should be of great interest to researchers, academics and postgraduate students in the field of education, specifically those working in early years and education policy and management. It should also be essential reading for managers working in Early Childhood settings.
