Tra il 1996 e il 2000, l’università italiana è andata incontro a un profondo processo di riforma. Dopo decenni di immobilismo, le sue strutture e logiche di funzionamento hanno cominciato a mutare, al punto da segnare una cesura con l’università così come l’abbiamo conosciuta fino ad anni recenti. La ricerca presentata nel volume offre un’analisi in profondità del processo con cui la riforma dell’autonomia didattica – punto di partenza della più ampia riforma universitaria – è stata costruita. Tranne poche eccezioni, di questa riforma si è scritto molto in termini impressionistici e basati su opinioni personali, quasi sempre pregiudizialmente negativi e quasi mai informati. Sulla base di evidenze empiriche e attraverso la voce di coloro che ne sono stati i protagonisti, questa ricerca analizza come la riforma della didattica sia stata elaborata, attuata normativamente e implementata operativamente. Attraverso interviste in profondità con gli attori direttamente coinvolti nel processo di riforma, fonti documentarie e uno studio di caso relativo all’attuazione della riforma in quattro facoltà e in un corso di laurea di un grande ateneo del Nord Italia, l’analisi mette in luce le condizioni, le dinamiche e le logiche che stanno alla base del modo in cui la riforma è stata pensata, costruita e realizzata.
