Mathematical Models In The Manufacturing Of Glass written by Angiolo Farina and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-11-27 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This volume presents a review of advanced technological problems in the glass industry and of the mathematics involved. It is amazing that such a seemingly small research area is extremely rich and calls for an impressively large variety of mathematical methods, including numerical simulations of considerable complexity. The problems treated here are very typical of the field of glass manufacturing and cover a large spectrum of complementary subjects: injection molding by various techniques, radiative heat transfer in glass, nonisothermal flows and fibre spinning. The book can certainly be useful not only to applied mathematicians, but also to physicists and engineers, who can find in it an overview of the most advanced models and methods.

Mathematical Approach To Glass written by Miloš Bohuslav Volf and has been published by Elsevier Science Limited this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1988 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Although completely self-contained, this book forms a useful supplement to Volf's Chemical Approach to Glass (1984) in which the account of the manifestation of the individual elements in oxide glasses was described phenomenologically. Aimed at facilitating active study of glass by means of calculations, this book is directed towards a quantification of the manifestation of elements in glass and interpolation of the chemical and physical dependence of the properties of glass. Thanks to the availability of computer technology and to increasing cooperation between glass scientists and mathematicians, the field of applied mathematics in glass has expanded and is developing into a separate discipline with its own systems and methods, internal classification, and links to other disciplines. The concept of calculations in glassmaking has therefore outgrown its original scope. It has ceased to be a mere collection of formulas and tables and is moving away from the apparently accidental peculiarities related to the nonstoichiometry of glass to an order dictated by the periodical system of elements.

Complex Flows In Industrial Processes written by Antonio Fasano and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Despite the fact that fluid dynamics and filtration through porous media and mathematics, there are classical research areas in engineering, physics, are still many industrial processes that require the study of new mathemat ical models for flows of particular complexity, due to the peculiar properties of the systems involved. The aim of this book is to provide a number of examples showing how frequently such situations arise in various branches of industrial technology. The selection of the subjects was motivated not only by their industrial rel evance and mathematical interest. What I had in mind was a collection of problems having a really distinctive character, thus bringing some fresh air into one of the oldest and most revered domains of applied mathematics. The incredible richness of nonstandard flow problems in industrial appli cations has always been, and still is, a constant surprise to me. Therefore I tried to offer a very large spectrum of subjects, with special attention devoted to those problems in which the modeling phase is far from being obvious, and the mathematical content is absolutely nontrivial. With such a view to diversity, topics have been selected from a variety of sources (such as glass industry, polymers science, coffee brewing, fuels pipelining), and contributors from different backgrounds (mathematics, physics, chemical engineering) have been included. Consequently, the mathematical nature of the problems formulated spans over a large range, so that their theoret ical investigation and numerical computation require a variety of different techniques.

This unique book is equally useful to both engineering-degree students and production engineers practicing in industry. The volume is designed to cover three aspects of manufacturing technology: (a) fundamental concepts, (b) engineering analysis/mathematical modeling of manufacturing operations, and (c) 250+ problems and their solutions. These attractive features render this book suitable for recommendation as a textbook for undergraduate as well as Master level programs in Mechanical/Materials/Industrial Engineering. There are 19 chapters in the book; each chapter first introduces readers to the technological importance of chapter-topic and definitions of terms and their explanation; and then the mathematical modeling/engineering analysis of the corresponding manufacturing operation is presented. The meanings of the terms along with their SI units in each mathematical model are clearly stated. There are over 320 mathematical models/equations. The book is divided into three parts. Part One introduces readers to manufacturing and basic manufacturing processes (metal casting, plastic molding, metal forming, ceramic processing, composite processing, heat treatment, surface finishing, welding & joining, and powder metallurgy) and their engineering analysis/mathematical modeling followed by worked examples (solved problem). Part Two covers non-traditional machining and computer aided manufacturing, including their mathematical modeling and the related solved problems. Finally, quality control (QC) and economic aspects of manufacturing are discussed in Part Three. Features Presents over 320 mathematical models and 250 worked examples Covers both conventional and non-traditional manufacturing Includes design problems and their solutions on engineering manufacturing processes Special emphasis on casting design and weld design in manufacturing Offers computer aided manufacturing, quality control, and economics of manufacturing

Designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students, academic researchers and industrial practitioners, this book provides comprehensive case studies on numerical computing of industrial processes and step-by-step procedures for conducting industrial computing. It assumes minimal knowledge in numerical computing and computer programming, making it easy to read, understand and follow. Topics discussed include fundamentals of industrial computing, finite difference methods, the Wavelet-Collocation Method, the Wavelet-Galerkin Method, High Resolution Methods, and comparative studies of various methods. These are discussed using examples of carefully selected models from real processes of industrial significance. The step-by-step procedures in all these case studies can be easily applied to other industrial processes without a need for major changes. Thus, they provide readers with useful frameworks for the applications of engineering computing in fundamental research problems and practical development scenarios.
