Measurements of bottomonium production in heavy-ion and p+p collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) are presented. The inclusive yield of the three [Upsilon] states, [Upsilon](1S + 2S + 3S), was measured in the PHENIX experiment via electron-positron decay pairs at midrapidity for Au+Au and p+p collisions at \(\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=200\) GeV. The [Upsilon](1S + 2S + 3S) 2!ee− differential cross section at midrapidity was found to be Beed[sigma]/dy = 108 ± 38 (stat) ± 15 (syst) ± 11 (luminosity) pb in p+p collisions. The nuclear modification factor in the 30% most central Au+Au collisions indicates a suppression of the total [Upsilon] state yield relative to the extrapolation from p+p collision data. Thus, the suppression is consistent with measurements at higher energies by the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

The production yields of Upsilon(1S), Upsilon(2S), and Upsilon(3S) quarkonium states are measured through their decays into muon pairs in the CMS detector, in PbPb and pp collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 2.76 TeV. The data correspond to integrated luminosities of 166 inverse microbarns and 5.4 inverse picobarns for PbPb and pp collisions, respectively. Differential production cross sections are reported as functions of Upsilon rapidity $y$ up to 2.4, and transverse momentum pt up to 20 GeV/c. A strong centrality-dependent suppression is observed in PbPb relative to pp collisions, by factors of up to ~2 and 8, for the Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) states, respectively. No significant dependence of this suppression is observed as a function of y or pt. The Upsilon(3S) state is not observed in PbPb collisions, which corresponds to a suppression for the centrality-integrated data by at least a factor of ~7 at a 95% confidence level. The observed suppression is in agreement with theoretical scenarios modeling the sequential melting of quarkonium states in a quark gluon plasma.

Pair production of $\Upsilon(\mathrm{1S})$ mesons is observed at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at $ \sqrt{s} = $ 8 TeV by the CMS experiment in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb$^{-1}$. Both $\Upsilon(\mathrm{1S})$ candidates are fully reconstructed via their decays to $\mu^{+}\mu^{- } $. The fiducial acceptance region is defined by an absolute $\Upsilon(\mathrm{1S})$ rapidity smaller than 2.0. The fiducial cross section for the production of $\Upsilon(\mathrm{1S})$ pairs, assuming that both mesons decay isotropically, is measured to be 68.8 $\pm$ 12.7 (stat) $\pm$ 7.4 (syst) $\pm$ 2.8 ($\mathcal{B}$) pb, where the third uncertainty comes from the uncertainty in the branching fraction of $\Upsilon(\mathrm{1S})$ decays to $\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$. Assuming instead that the $\Upsilon(\mathrm{1S})$ mesons are produced with different polarizations leads to variations in the measured cross section in the range from $-38\%$ to $+36\%$.

We report measurements of [Upsilon] meson production in p + p, d + Au, and Au+Au collisions using the STAR detector at RHIC. We compare the [Upsilon] yield to the measured cross section in p + p collisions in order to quantify any modifications of the yield in cold nuclear matter using d + Au data and in hot nuclear matter using Au+Au data separated into three centrality classes. Our p + p measurement is based on three times the statistics of our previous result. We obtain a nuclear modification factor for Upsilon (1S + 2S + 3S) in the rapidity range.

Debye screening of inter-quark potentials leading to suppression of heavy quarkonia has long been a studied signature of the onset of partonic deconfinement. We report on the production of [Upsilon](1S+2S+3S) mesons at [squareroot]s(NN) = 200 GeV in p + p, d + Au, and Au + Au collisions as measured by the Solenoidal Tracker At RHIC. We compare our measured yield in p + p collisions to those in d + Au and Au + Au collisions to obtain nuclear modification factors and quantify suppression effects from both hot and cold nuclear matter. The relative yields of [upsilon] mesons produced in p + p and Pb+Pb collisions at [square root] s[subscript NN] = 5.02 TeV and reconstructed via the dimuon decay channel are measured using data collected by the CMS experiment. Double ratios are formed by comparing the yields of the excited states, [upsilon](2S) and [upsilon](3S), to the ground state, [upsilon](1S), in both Pb+Pb and p + p collisions at the same energy. The double ratios, [[upsilon](nS)/[upsilon](1S)][subscript PbPb] /[[upsilon](nS)/[upsilon](1S)][subscript pp] ,are measured to be 0.308 ± 0.055 (stat) ± 0.019 (syst) for the [upsilon](2S) and less than 0.26 at 95% confidence level for the [upsilon](3S). The double ratios are studied as a function of collision centrality, as well as dimuon transverse momentum, and rapidity. As a function ofcollision centrality the [upsilon](2S) double ratio is consistent with unity in the most peripheral (70–100%) bin and is consistent with zero in the most central (0–5%) bin. The [upsilon](2S) double ratio is consistent with a constant dependence on the kinematic variables, with a large suppression seen throughout the studied kinematic range. No significant [upsilon](3S) signal is found in the Pb+Pb data. The [upsilon](3S) double ratio is consistently below unity for all bins, including the most peripheral (50–100%) bin, indicating a strong suppression of the [upsilon](3S) relative to the [upsilon](1S).
