What is a true learning organization, and how can your school become one? To excel, schools must embrace continuous school improvement and evaluation, as well as systems thinking. In Measuring What We Do in Schools, author Victoria L. Bernhardt details the critical role program evaluation serves in school success and how to implement meaningful evaluations that make a difference. She provides a roadmap of how to conduct comprehensive, systemwide evaluations of programs and processes; the tools needed to obtain usable, pertinent information; and how to use these data to expand teachers’ and administrators’ data-informed decision-making focus. Educators will learn how to Assess what is working and not working for students Determine which processes need to change Use data to improve practices on an ongoing basis Although challenging for many schools, program evaluation and data analysis can begin with a single program or process, over time building on the expanded knowledge of the school’s processes and the results they produce. An effective tool—The Program Evaluation Tool—enables schools to easily identify the purpose and intended outcomes of any school program, along with whom it serves, and how it should be implemented, monitored, and evaluated. These data can then be used to improve every aspect of a school’s programs and processes and the outcomes achieved. Filled with practical strategies and featuring an in-depth case study, this book is designed to help educators see that evaluation work is logical and easy to do. They’ll gain the confidence to do this work on a regular basis—working together to become a true learning organization.

Children's social–emotional and self-regulation skills are critical for success in school and, ultimately, in the workplace. How can educators determine the most effective approaches for measuring students' interpersonal competencies? And how can they use the data to improve their own practice? Relevant for school leaders, educators, researchers, and other stakeholders, this book brings together leading experts from multiple disciplines to discuss the current state of measurement and assessment of a broad range of noncognitive skills and present an array of innovative tools. Chapters describe measures targeting the individual student, classroom, whole school, and community; highlight implications for instructional decision making; examine key issues in methodology, practice, and policy; and share examples of systematic school- and districtwide implementation.

At a time when hundreds of millions of people in the world lack education, it is of little use to proclaim the right to education unless one can measure the implementation of the right and identify the factors that affect its fulfillment. This publication sets out a methodology for this purpose, tested in field surveys carried out in Burkina Faso, and informed by a range of indicators designed to measure the four capacities of the educational system: acceptability, adaptability, availability and accessibility. This innovative methodology has been development in partnership between the Interdisciplinary Institute for Ethics and Human Rights (IIEHR) and the Association for the Promotion of Non-formal education in Burkina Faso (APENF).

How To Measure Program Implementation written by Lynn Lyons Morris and has been published by SAGE Publications, Incorporated this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1978-10 with Education categories.

Abstract: A major task of the program evaluator is to describe how a program looks in operation and whether implementation in practice matches what was planned. Few evaluation reports describe sufficiently those program processes which allow participants to achieve objectives. Skills for describing program implementation and designing measurement instruments for support of such descriptions are presented in this 4th volume of a series on program evaluation. Components of the detailed implementation report include the context and characteristics of the program (setting and participants) and program materials and activities. Data collection methods measuring program implementation involve the use of existing measures or the construction of new ones. Hints on sampling strategies, data summary and analysis, record-keeping, observation systems, and self-reports are given. A final chapter discusses the reliability and validity of implementation measures, factors indicative of their quality.
