Hierzulande kosten einzelne Präparate bis zu 424% (siehe 3.3.) mehr als bei europäischen Nachbarn. Medikamente stellen gleichzeitig für immer mehr Deutsche ein Gut des täglichen Bedarfs dar (Welt online, Berliner verbrauchen mehr Medikamente). Mit zunehmendem Alter und mit zunehmenden Krankheitsbildern bzw. Allergikern werden Medikamente für immer mehr Bundesbürger notwendig (Ärzteblatt, Zahl der Allergiker in Deutschland steigt). Interesse an niedrigen Arzneipreisen haben somit über 80 Millionen Deutsche und Europaweit mehr als 500 Millionen Menschen (2010) (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung, Bevölkerungsstand und -entwicklung). Schon heute gibt es zahlreiche politische und wirtschaftliche Maßnahmen und viele Organisationen die ein berechtigtes Interesse haben, Preise dauerhaft zu senken. Allerdings gibt es auch zahlreiche Vertreter von Konzernen, welche ein Anliegen an hohen Renditen bei Medikamenten haben. Zwischen diesen beiden Grundeinstellungen muss die Politik, allen voran die Europapolitik, einen geeigneten Mittelweg finden. Nachfolgend wird die Seminararbeit zum Thema „Medikamentenpreise in der EU - Welche Maßnahmen müssen ergriffen werden, um die Preise bis 2042 zu homogenisieren?“ einen differenzierten Einblick in diese komplexe Problematik bieten. Ziel ist es die Leser und Leserinnen1 für ein Thema zu sensibilisieren von dem jeder betroffen ist und einen Einblick in verschiedene Bereiche der Marktpreisentwicklung von Pharmazeutika zu verschaffen.
