Lançado em Israel em 1968, Meu Michel é o retrato magistral de uma mulher que desliza lentamente para a névoa do delírio esquizofrênico, na Jerusalém da década de 1960. A protagonista, Hana Gonen, trinta anos, é casada com um geólogo calmo, trabalhador, sensível - o "meu Michel" -, um bom cidadão que, ao contrário da mulher, se recusa a estender seus sonhos para além da linha do despertar. Para Michel, o tempo presente é a matéria dócil com a qual se deve moldar o futuro. Já Hana se apega à memória e às palavras como quem se agarra a um parapeito num lugar muito alto. Com o passar do tempo, como uma ravina no deserto - tema da tese de doutorado de Michel -, a fenda entre os dois se alarga. Abandonada aos próprios pensamentos, girando em volta de si mesma, Hana deixa de ter o mundo exterior como referência. Os contornos se borram. Schízo - em grego, "cisão", "separação" - é o termo para esse desgarrar-se da realidade, para o delírio que aos poucos cresce dentro dela como uma planta exuberante, feita do desencontro assustador e doloroso entre atos, desejos, memória e palavra.
