Dabei wird eine spezielle Anwendung des MCT, der Einsatz als Instrument des Customer Relationship Managements (CRM) in Form von Kundenklubs näher untersucht. Neben den technischen Rahmenbedingungen rund um mobile Telekommunikationssysteme (u.a. GSM, SMS, MMS) und den Grundlagen des CRM von Kundenklubs, liegt ein Schwerpunkt dieser Arbeit beim Mobile Marketing, das, illustriert durch Best Practice Konzepte und Expertengespräche, die wirtschaftlichen und konzeptionellen Spielregeln für den Einsatz von MCT-Lösungen und Projekten definiert. Mit diesem Konzept richtet sich diese Arbeit an Unternehmen aller Branchen, die ihr bestehendes CRM durch die Komponente „mobile“, also der Ansprache ihrer Kunden über mobile Endgeräte erweitern wollen, als auch Mobile Marketing Agenturen, die sich über einen Einstieg in den Bereich des MCT grundlegend informieren wollen. Die wichtigsten Ergebnisse zeigen: MCT kann in verschiedenen Ausgestaltungsformen durchgeführt werden - die Technik stellt dabei nur Rahmenbedingungen zur Verfügung; über Erfolg/Misserfolg entscheidet zuletzt der Endanwender. Die Akteure und Anbieter von MCT-Lösungen sind grundsätzlich in zwei Lager zu teilen: die eine Seite benutzt eine Lösung in Form von Codes, die andere setzt auf den 2-D Barcode- Standard als automatisierte Lösung mit entsprechenden Lesegeräten. Das Potential von MCT ist enorm, denn es kann den Kunden direkt an den Point-of-Sale (POS) bringen und damit die Nachfrage ankurbeln. Ein Unternehmen, welches sich kurzfristig in diesem Bereich als Plattform und Schnittstelle und damit als Komplettanbieter positioniert, kann sich als Marktführer etablieren.

Customer relationship management (CRM), as a part of strategic marketing, can be seen as the emerging management paradigm, with which companies seek to respond to these changing market conditions. Through the adoption of a CRM system, companies are able to collect and evaluate specific knowledge about their customers in a systematic way, hence primarily improving customer service and customer loyalty. Until recently, companies ignored the importance of this, which lead to a loss of customers and thus a decrease in profitability. Beyond that, the fact that companies neglect their customers is oftentimes intensified by a lack of appropriate equipment, tools or project management methods. Estimates by some market observers even state that nearly 70 - 80% of all CRM projects fail or do not attain the intended target. Nevertheless, CRM can be an effective and profitable cross-functional management tool for attaining a lasting exchange with customers across all their points of contact and access with a personalised treatment of the most beneficial customers in order to ascertain customer retention and the effectiveness of marketing initiatives. The adoption of an effective customer relationship management within the field of business-to-business (B2B) marketing is therefore essential, as companies have to be exceedingly responsive to individual customer preferences, equally requiring a differentiated sales approach in order to raise customer profitability. The objective of this paper is to provide a clear overview of the importance of customer relationship management. The coursework is divided into five chapters. Initially, the general theoretic foundations of customer relationship management are explained in chapter two. Thereafter, the specific advantages of adopting a CRM approach for business organisations will be outlined in chapter three. Chapter four describes a framework of CRM explaining the ideas and techniques within a business marketing context. Finally, in a retrospective analysis of the paper, the research findings will be analysed and an outlook of the future development of CRM in business marketing will be given.

With the increasing competition on the market, customer loyalty has become a decisive factor for long-term business profits. At its high, customer loyalty connotes the high entry barriers the competitor faces when entering the market, and it contributes significantly to a reduction of marketing costs. To attract new customers, companies are required to invest a lot of time and money which can result in uncertainties and risks over longer periods of time. The number of loyal customers as a sign of market share is more significant than the total number of customers. More loyal customers translate to high profits. Loyal customers will continue to purchase or receive the product or service from the same enterprises, and they will be willing to pay higher prices for the quality products and first-class services, thereby increasing sales revenue. Consequently, the focus of many enterprise managers at this point is on marketing management aspects to improve customer loyalty in order to gain the competitive advantage in the face of fierce competition. The importance of customer loyalty has been identified by many researchers and academics in the past years. This importance is also predominant in the telecommunication industry and, consequently, the Nigerian telecom industry. This book attempts to assess and analyze the variables that influence a mobile phone subscriber?s loyalty and how Nigerian service providers can enhance this loyalty. The study is based on a survey that uses the quantitative approach. A structured questionnaire was developed and personally administered to a sample of University of Ilorin students across four major GSM operators in the country. Four hundred (400) respondents were sampled through a stratified random sampling. Out of this, three hundred and forty-eight (348) copies of the questionnaire, constituting an 87% response rate, could be used for the analysis. Of the eleven (11) operational factors that were used to assess loyalty of customers in the Nigeria Mobile Telecoms industry, all variables except Brand Image and Service Centre Quality were found to be capable of influencing customer loyalty and also considered as the most important loyalty variables in the industry. The unavailability of Mobile Number Portability was found to be a prominent factor in tying consumers down to service providers, while the generally low satisfaction with the present state of service delivery in the industry also plays a role. Therefore, the retention which the service providers were able to enjoy can be described as circumstantial. The given recommendations include that the service providers embark upon drives that will reduce dropped calls to a bare minimum, that they improve call quality, and that they develop SMS delivery standards.
