Modern Concepts In Angiogenesis written by Michael Simons and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-07-26 with Medical categories.

This volume addresses current emerging concepts in the field of angiogenesis, including important angiogenesis modifiers which are essential in combination with growth factors (VEGF and FGF) for the physiological process and also for therapeutic applications. It covers many of the lesser discussed areas including blood vessel growth guidance (interactions with CNS) as well as emerging practical applications of these concepts. The book comprises in-depth reviews by leading experts in several major areas: recent basic science discoveries about angiogenesis modifiers (semaphorins, ephrins and nitric oxide, for which the Nobel Prize was awarded); arterial guidance; clinical applications of new angiogenic factors (HGF, HIF and eNOS); and basic and clinical advancement of anti-angiogenic molecules for the treatment of cancer and macular degeneration (tyrosine kinase inhibitors and NO).These topics, especially their unique combination presented in this volume, are not found in any other current books on angiogenesis. This makes the book a must-read for readers both interested and actively involved in the most recent advances in basic principles and clinical applications of angiogenesis./a

Angiogenesis Based Dermatology written by Jack L. Arbiser and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-07-17 with Medical categories.

This book provides a complete overview of all aspects of angiogenesis in dermatology. This is a guide to the principles of angiogenesis that will allow all involved in dermatology from the medical student and nurse practitioner to the experienced dermatologist to apply these principles for the treatment of patients. Angiogenesis is a principle that can be used to guide treatment of diseases of any organ system. Dermatology may be the first specialty to be guided by the principle of angiogenesis because the lesions are visible and response can be easily monitored. Dermatologists already inhibit angiogenesis as part of their treatment of multiple common dermatologic disorders, including acne, warts, and nonmelanoma skin cancer.

Angiogenesis Assays written by Carolyn A. Staton and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-01-11 with Medical categories.

Angiogenesis, the development of new blood vessels from the existing vasculature, is essential for physiological growth and over 18,000 research articles have been published describing the role of angiogenesis in over 70 different diseases, including cancer, diabetic retinopathy, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. One of the most important technical challenges in such studies has been finding suitable methods for assessing the effects of regulators of eh angiogenic response. While increasing numbers of angiogenesis assays are being described both in vitro and in vivo, it is often still necessary to use a combination of assays to identify the cellular and molecular events in angiogenesis and the full range of effects of a given test protein. Although the endothelial cell - its migration, proliferation, differentiation and structural rearrangement - is central to the angiogenic process, it is not the only cell type involved. the supporting cells, the extracellular matrix and the circulating blood with its cellular and humoral components also contribute. In this book, experts in the use of a diverse range of assays outline key components of these and give a critical appraisal of their strengths and weaknesses. Examples include assays for the proliferation, migration and differentiation of endothelial cells in vitro, vessel outgrowth from organ cultures, assessment of endothelial and mural cell interactions, and such in vivo assays as the chick chorioallantoic membrane, zebrafish, corneal, chamber and tumour angiogenesis models. These are followed by a critical analysis of the biological end-points currently being used in clinical trials to assess the clinical efficacy of anti-angiogenic drugs, which leads into a discussion of the direction future studies should take. This valuable book is of interest to research scientists currently working on angiogenesis in both the academic community and in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Relevant disciplines include cell and molecular biology, oncology, cardiovascular research, biotechnology, pharmacology, pathology and physiology.

Judah Folkman written by Domenico Ribatti and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-06-22 with Medical categories.

The aim if this book is to analyze the scientific biography of Judah Folkman, one of the most important scientist of the last century. More 50 years ago, Folkman found a revolutionary new way to think about cancer. Blood supply, Folkman hypothesized, was the key to tumor growth. Without new blood vessels, tumors simply did not thrive. In 1971, Folkman published his theory of angiogenesis in the “New England Journal of Medicine”. Angiogenesis, the formation and recruitment of new blood vessels, is necessary for tumor growth. Critics of the theory were silenced over time as Folkman and his colleagues reported the first purified angiogenic molecule, the first angiogenesis inhibitor and proposed the concept of angiogenic disease. The mechanism of angiogenesis is now a worldwide field of investigation. Over the years, Folkman and a growing team of researchers have isolated the proteins and unraveled the processes that regulate angiogenesis. Meanwhile, a new generation of angiogenesis research has emerged as well, widening the field into new areas of human disease and deepening it to examine the underlying biological processes responsible for those diseases.
